5 But thou shalt die H4191 in peace: H7965 and with the burnings H4955 of thy fathers, H1 the former H7223 kings H4428 which were before H6440 thee, so shall they burn H8313 odours for thee; and they will lament H5594 thee, saying, Ah H1945 lord! H113 for I have pronounced H1696 the word, H1697 saith H5002 the LORD. H3068
And they buried H6912 him in his own sepulchres, H6913 which he had made H3738 for himself in the city H5892 of David, H1732 and laid H7901 him in the bed H4904 which was filled H4390 with sweet odours H1314 and divers kinds H2177 of spices prepared H7543 by the apothecaries' H4842 art: H4639 and they made H8313 a very H3966 great H1419 burning H8316 for him.
Therefore thus saith H559 the LORD H3068 concerning Jehoiakim H3079 the son H1121 of Josiah H2977 king H4428 of Judah; H3063 They shall not lament H5594 for him, saying, Ah H1945 my brother! H251 or, Ah H1945 sister! H269 they shall not lament H5594 for him, saying, Ah H1945 lord! H113 or, Ah H1945 his glory! H1935
Behold therefore, I will gather H622 thee unto thy fathers, H1 and thou shalt be gathered H622 into thy grave H6913 in peace; H7965 and thine eyes H5869 shall not see H7200 all the evil H7451 which I will bring H935 upon this place. H4725 And they brought H7725 the king H4428 word H1697 again. H7725
And it came to pass, that in process of time, H3117 after H3318 H6256 the end H7093 of two H8147 years, H3117 his bowels H4578 fell out H3318 by reason H5973 of his sickness: H2483 so he died H4191 of sore H7451 diseases. H8463 And his people H5971 made H6213 no burning H8316 for him, like the burning H8316 of his fathers. H1 Thirty H7970 and two H8147 years old H1121 was he when he began to reign, H4427 and he reigned H4427 in Jerusalem H3389 eight H8083 years, H8141 and departed H3212 without being desired. H2532 Howbeit they buried H6912 him in the city H5892 of David, H1732 but not in the sepulchres H6913 of the kings. H4428
Behold, I will gather H622 thee to thy fathers, H1 and thou shalt be gathered H622 to thy grave H6913 in peace, H7965 neither shall thine eyes H5869 see H7200 all the evil H7451 that I will bring H935 upon this place, H4725 and upon the inhabitants H3427 of the same. So they brought H7725 the king H4428 word H1697 again. H7725
As I live, H2416 saith H5002 the Lord H136 GOD, H3069 surely in the place H4725 where the king H4428 dwelleth that made him king, H4427 whose oath H423 he despised, H959 and whose covenant H1285 he brake, H6565 even with him in the midst H8432 of Babylon H894 he shall die. H4191

Commentary on Jeremiah 34 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 34
In this chapter we have two messages which God sent by Jeremiah.
Jer 34:1-7
This prophecy concerning Zedekiah was delivered to Jeremiah, and by him to the parties concerned, before he was shut up in the prison, for we find this prediction here made the ground of his commitment, as appears by the recital of some passages out of it, ch. 32:4. Observe,
Jer 34:8-22
We have here another prophecy upon a particular occasion, the history of which we must take notice of, as necessary to give light to the prophecy.
