40 Jesus G2424 saith G3004 unto her, G846 Said I G2036 not G3756 unto thee, G4671 that, G3754 if G1437 thou wouldest believe, G4100 thou shouldest see G3700 the glory G1391 of God? G2316
When G1161 Jesus G2424 heard G191 that, he said, G2036 This G3778 sickness G769 is G2076 not G3756 unto G4314 death, G2288 but G235 for G5228 the glory G1391 of God, G2316 that G2443 the Son G5207 of God G2316 might be glorified G1392 thereby. G1223 G846
Jesus G2424 saith G3004 unto her, G846 Thy G4675 brother G80 shall rise again. G450 Martha G3136 saith G3004 unto him, G846 I know G1492 that G3754 he shall rise again G450 in G1722 the resurrection G386 at G1722 the last G2078 day. G2250 Jesus G2424 said G2036 unto her, G846 I G1473 am G1510 the resurrection, G386 and G2532 the life: G2222 he that believeth G4100 in G1519 me, G1691 though G2579 he were dead, G599 yet shall he live: G2198 And G2532 whosoever G3956 liveth G2198 and G2532 believeth G4100 in G1519 me G1691 shall G599 never G3364 G1519 G165 die. G599 Believest thou G4100 this? G5124
(As G2531 it is written, G1125 G3754 I have made G5087 thee G4571 a father G3962 of many G4183 nations,) G1484 before G2713 him whom G3739 he believed, G4100 even God, G2316 who quickeneth G2227 the dead, G3498 and G2532 calleth G2564 those things which be G5607 not G3361 as though G5613 they were. G5607 Who G3739 against G3844 hope G1680 believed G4100 in G1909 hope, G1680 that G1519 he G846 might become G1096 the father G3962 of many G4183 nations, G1484 according G2596 to that which was spoken, G2046 So G3779 shall G2071 thy G4675 seed G4690 be. G2071 And G2532 being not G3361 weak G770 in faith, G4102 he considered G2657 not G3756 his own G1438 body G4983 now G2235 dead, G3499 when he was G5225 about G4225 an hundred years old, G1541 neither yet G2532 the deadness G3500 of Sara's G4564 womb: G3388 G1161 He staggered G1252 not G3756 at G1519 the promise G1860 of God G2316 through unbelief; G570 but G235 was strong G1743 in faith, G4102 giving G1325 glory G1391 to God; G2316 And G2532 being fully persuaded G4135 that, G3754 what G3739 he had promised, G1861 he was G2076 able G1415 also G2532 to perform. G4160 And G2532 therefore G1352 it was imputed G3049 to him G846 for G1519 righteousness. G1343 Now G1161 it was G1125 not G3756 written G1125 for his sake G1223 G846 alone, G3440 that G3754 it was imputed G3049 to him; G846 But G235 for G1223 us G2248 also, G2532 to whom G3739 it shall be G3195 imputed, G3049 if we believe G4100 on G1909 him that raised up G1453 Jesus G2424 our G2257 Lord G2962 from G1537 the dead; G3498 Who G3739 was delivered G3860 for G1223 our G2257 offences, G3900 and G2532 was raised again G1453 for G1223 our G2257 justification. G1347
And G2532 the Word G3056 was made G1096 flesh, G4561 and G2532 dwelt G4637 among G1722 us, G2254 (and G2532 we beheld G2300 his G846 glory, G1391 the glory G1391 as G5613 of the only begotten G3439 of G3844 the Father,) G3962 full G4134 of grace G5485 and G2532 truth. G225
To see H7200 thy power H5797 and thy glory, H3519 so as I have seen H2372 thee in the sanctuary. H6944
Let thy work H6467 appear H7200 unto thy servants, H5650 and thy glory H1926 unto their children. H1121
And they rose early H7925 in the morning, H1242 and went forth H3318 into the wilderness H4057 of Tekoa: H8620 and as they went forth, H3318 Jehoshaphat H3092 stood H5975 and said, H559 Hear H8085 me, O Judah, H3063 and ye inhabitants H3427 of Jerusalem; H3389 Believe H539 in the LORD H3068 your God, H430 so shall ye be established; H539 believe H539 his prophets, H5030 so shall ye prosper. H6743
These things G5023 said G2036 Esaias, G2268 when G3753 he saw G1492 his G846 glory, G1391 and G2532 spake G2980 of G4012 him. G846
For G3754 God, G2316 who G3588 commanded G2036 the light G5457 to shine G2989 out of G1537 darkness, G4655 G3739 hath shined G2989 in G1722 our G2257 hearts, G2588 to G4314 give the light G5462 of the knowledge G1108 of the glory G1391 of God G2316 in G1722 the face G4383 of Jesus G2424 Christ. Commentary on John 11 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 11
In this chapter we have the history of that illustrious miracle which Christ wrought a little before his death-the raising of Lazarus to life, which is recorded only by this evangelist; for the other three confine themselves to what Christ did in Galilee, where he resided most, and scarcely ever carried their history into Jerusalem till the passion-week: whereas John's memoirs relate chiefly to what passed at Jerusalem; this passage therefore was reserved for his pen. Some suggest that, when the other evangelists wrote, Lazarus was alive, and it would not well agree either with his safety or with his humility to have it recorded till now, when it is supposed he was dead. It is more largely recorded than any other of Christ's miracles, not only because there are many circumstances of it so very instructive and the miracle of itself so great a proof of Christ's mission, but because it was an earnest of that which was to be the crowning proof of all-Christ's own resurrection. Here is,
Jhn 11:1-16
We have in these verses,
Jhn 11:17-32
The matter being determined, that Christ will go to Judea, and his disciples with him, they address themselves to their journey; in this journey some circumstances happened which the other evangelists record, as the healing of the blind man at Jericho, and the conversion of Zaccheus. We must not reckon ourselves out of our way, while we are in the way of doing good; nor be so intent upon one good office as to neglect another.
At length, he comes near to Bethany, which is said to be about fifteen furlongs from Jerusalem, about two measured miles, v. 18. Notice is taken of this, that this miracle was in effect wrought in Jerusalem, and so was put to her score. Christ's miracles in Galilee were more numerous, but those in or near Jerusalem were more illustrious; there he healed one that had been diseased thirty-eight years, another that had been blind from his birth, and raised one that had been dead four days. To Bethany Christ came, and observe,

Here we have,
Jhn 11:45-57
We have here an account of the consequences of this glorious miracle, which were as usual; to some it was a savour of life unto life, to others of death unto death.
