33 Then G3767 Pilate G4091 entered G1525 into G1519 the judgment hall G4232 again, G3825 and G2532 called G5455 Jesus, G2424 and G2532 said G2036 unto him, G846 Art G1488 thou G4771 the King G935 of the Jews? G2453
And G2532 went G1525 again G3825 into G1519 the judgment hall, G4232 and G2532 saith G3004 unto Jesus, G2424 Whence G4159 art G1488 thou? G4771 But G1161 Jesus G2424 gave G1325 him G846 no G3756 answer. G612
Took G2983 branches G902 of palm trees, G5404 and G2532 went forth G1831 to G1519 meet G5222 him, G846 and G2532 cried, G2896 Hosanna: G5614 Blessed G2127 is the King G935 of Israel G2474 that cometh G2064 in G1722 the name G3686 of the Lord. G2962
For G1063 David G1138 is not G3756 ascended G305 into G1519 the heavens: G3772 but G1161 he saith G3004 himself, G846 The LORD G2962 said G2036 unto my G3450 Lord, G2962 Sit thou G2521 on G1537 my G3450 right hand, G1188 Until G2193 I make G302 G5087 thy G4675 foes G2190 thy G4675 footstool. G4228 G5286 Therefore G3767 let G1097 all G3956 the house G3624 of Israel G2474 know G1097 assuredly, G806 that G3754 God G2316 hath made G4160 that same G5126 Jesus, G2424 whom G3739 ye G5210 have crucified, G4717 both G2532 Lord G2962 and G2532 Christ. G5547
And G1161 G2532 Pilate G4091 wrote G1125 a title, G5102 and G2532 put G5087 it on G1909 the cross. G4716 And G1161 the writing G1125 was, G2258 JESUS G2424 OF NAZARETH G3480 THE KING G935 OF THE JEWS. G2453 This G5126 title G5102 then G3767 read G314 many G4183 of the Jews: G2453 for G3754 the place G5117 where G3699 Jesus G2424 was crucified G4717 was G2258 nigh G1451 to the city: G4172 and G2532 it was G2258 written G1125 in Hebrew, G1447 and Greek, G1676 and Latin. G4515 Then G3767 said G3004 the chief priests G749 of the Jews G2453 to Pilate, G4091 Write G1125 not, G3361 The King G935 of the Jews; G2453 but G235 that G3754 he G1565 said, G2036 I am G1510 King G935 of the Jews. G2453 Pilate G4091 answered, G611 What G3739 I have written G1125 I have written. G1125
And from G1537 thenceforth G5127 Pilate G4091 sought G2212 to release G630 him: G846 but G1161 the Jews G2453 cried out, G2896 saying, G3004 If G1437 thou let G630 this man G5126 go, G630 thou art G1488 not G3756 Caesar's G2541 friend: G5384 whosoever G3956 maketh G4160 himself G846 a king G935 speaketh against G483 Caesar. G2541
And G2532 said, G3004 Hail, G5463 King G935 of the Jews! G2453 and G2532 they smote G1325 him G846 with their hands. G4475
Pilate G4091 therefore G3767 said G2036 unto him, G846 Art G1488 thou G4771 a king G935 then? G3766 Jesus G2424 answered, G611 Thou G4771 sayest G3004 that G3754 I G1473 am G1510 a king. G935 To G1519 this G5124 end was G1080 I G1473 born, G1080 and G2532 for G1519 this G5124 cause came I G2064 into G1519 the world, G2889 that G2443 I should bear witness G3140 unto the truth. G225 Every one G3956 that is G5607 of G1537 the truth G225 heareth G191 my G3450 voice. G5456
Then G3767 led they G71 Jesus G2424 from G575 Caiaphas G2533 unto G1519 the hall of judgment: G4232 and G1161 it was G2258 early; G4405 and G2532 they themselves G846 went G1525 not G3756 into G1519 the judgment hall, G4232 lest G3363 they should be defiled; G3392 but G235 that G2443 they might eat G5315 the passover. G3957 Pilate G4091 then G3767 went out G1831 unto G4314 them, G846 and G2532 said, G2036 What G5101 accusation G2724 bring ye G5342 against G2596 this G5127 man? G444
Fear G5399 not, G3361 daughter G2364 of Sion: G4622 behold, G2400 thy G4675 King G935 cometh, G2064 sitting G2521 on G1909 an ass's G3688 colt. G4454
Yet have I set H5258 my king H4428 upon my holy H6944 hill H2022 of Zion. H6726 I will declare H5608 the decree: H2706 the LORD H3068 hath said H559 unto me, Thou art my Son; H1121 this day H3117 have I begotten H3205 thee. Ask H7592 of me, and I shall give H5414 thee the heathen H1471 for thine inheritance, H5159 and the uttermost parts H657 of the earth H776 for thy possession. H272 Thou shalt break H7489 them with a rod H7626 of iron; H1270 thou shalt dash them in pieces H5310 like a potter's H3335 vessel. H3627 Be wise H7919 now therefore, O ye kings: H4428 be instructed, H3256 ye judges H8199 of the earth. H776 Serve H5647 the LORD H3068 with fear, H3374 and rejoice H1523 with trembling. H7461 Kiss H5401 the Son, H1248 lest he be angry, H599 and ye perish H6 from the way, H1870 when his wrath H639 is kindled H1197 but a little. H4592 Blessed H835 are all they that put their trust H2620 in him.
And G1161 Pilate G4091 asked G1905 him, G846 saying, G3004 Art G1488 thou G4771 the King G935 of the Jews? G2453 And G1161 he answered G611 him G846 and said, G5346 Thou G4771 sayest G3004 it. Then G1161 said G2036 Pilate G4091 to G4314 the chief priests G749 and G2532 to the people, G3793 I find G2147 no G3762 fault G158 in G1722 this G5129 man. G444
Saying, G3004 Blessed G2127 be the King G935 that cometh G2064 in G1722 the name G3686 of the Lord: G2962 peace G1515 in G1722 heaven, G3772 and G2532 glory G1391 in G1722 the highest. G5310 And G2532 some G5100 of the Pharisees G5330 from G575 among the multitude G3793 said G2036 unto G4314 him, G846 Master, G1320 rebuke G2008 thy G4675 disciples. G3101 And G2532 he answered G611 and said G2036 unto them, G846 I tell G3004 you G5213 that, G3754 if G1437 these G3778 should hold their peace, G4623 the stones G3037 would immediately cry out. G2896
And G1161 Jesus G2424 stood G2476 before G1715 the governor: G2232 and G2532 the governor G2232 asked G1905 him, G846 saying, G3004 Art G1488 thou G4771 the King G935 of the Jews? G2453 And G1161 Jesus G2424 said G5346 unto him, G846 Thou G4771 sayest. G3004
Rejoice H1523 greatly, H3966 O daughter H1323 of Zion; H6726 shout, H7321 O daughter H1323 of Jerusalem: H3389 behold, thy King H4428 cometh H935 unto thee: he is just, H6662 and having salvation; H3467 lowly, H6041 and riding H7392 upon an ass, H2543 and upon a colt H5895 the foal H1121 of an ass. H860
Behold, the days H3117 come, H935 saith H5002 the LORD, H3068 that I will raise H6965 unto David H1732 a righteous H6662 Branch, H6780 and a King H4428 shall reign H4427 and prosper, H7919 and shall execute H6213 judgment H4941 and justice H6666 in the earth. H776
For unto us a child H3206 is born, H3205 unto us a son H1121 is given: H5414 and the government H4951 shall be upon his shoulder: H7926 and his name H8034 shall be called H7121 Wonderful, H6382 Counsellor, H3289 The mighty H1368 God, H410 The everlasting H5703 Father, H1 The Prince H8269 of Peace. H7965 Of the increase H4766 of his government H4951 and peace H7965 there shall be no end, H7093 upon the throne H3678 of David, H1732 and upon his kingdom, H4467 to order H3559 it, and to establish H5582 it with judgment H4941 and with justice H6666 from henceforth even for H5704 ever. H5769 The zeal H7068 of the LORD H3068 of hosts H6635 will perform H6213 this.

Commentary on John 18 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 18
Hitherto this evangelist has recorded little of the history of Christ, only so far as was requisite to introduce his discourses; but now that the time drew nigh that Jesus must die he is very particular in relating the circumstances of his sufferings, and some which the others had omitted, especially his sayings. So far were his followers from being ashamed of his cross, or endeavouring to conceal it, that this was what, both by word and writing, they were most industrious to proclaim, and gloried in it. This chapter relates,
Jhn 18:1-12
The hour was now come that the captain of our salvation, who was to be made perfect by sufferings, should engage the enemy. We have here his entrance upon the encounter. The day of recompence is in his heart, and the year of his redeemed is come, and his own arm works the salvation, for he has no second. Let us turn aside now, and see this great sight.
Jhn 18:13-27
We have here an account of Christ's arraignment before the high priest, and some circumstances that occurred therein which were omitted by the other evangelists; and Peter's denying him, which the other evangelists had given the story of entire by itself, is interwoven with the other passages. The crime laid to his charge having relation to religion, the judges of the spiritual court took it to fall directly under their cognizance. Both Jews and Gentiles seized him, and so both Jews and Gentiles tried and condemned him, for he died for the sins of both. Let us go over the story in order.
Jhn 18:28-40
We have here an account of Christ's arraignment before Pilate, the Roman governor, in the praetorium (a Latin word made Greek), the praetor's house, or hall of judgment; thither they hurried him, to get him condemned in the Roman court, and executed by the Roman power. Being resolved on his death, they took this course,
