47 Verily, G281 verily, G281 I say G3004 unto you, G5213 He that believeth G4100 on G1519 me G1691 hath G2192 everlasting G166 life. G2222
He that believeth G4100 on G1519 the Son G5207 hath G2192 everlasting G166 life: G2222 and G1161 he that believeth not G544 the Son G5207 shall G3700 not G3756 see G3700 life; G2222 but G235 the wrath G3709 of God G2316 abideth G3306 on G1909 him. G846
Verily, G281 verily, G281 I say G3004 unto you, G5213 G3754 He that heareth G191 my G3450 word, G3056 and G2532 believeth G4100 on him that sent G3992 me, G3165 hath G2192 everlasting G166 life, G2222 and G2532 shall G2064 not G3756 come G2064 into G1519 condemnation; G2920 but G235 is passed G3327 from G1537 death G2288 unto G1519 life. G2222
He that believeth G4100 on G1519 him G846 is G2919 not G3756 condemned: G2919 but G1161 he that believeth G4100 not G3361 is condemned G2919 already, G2235 because G3754 he hath G4100 not G3361 believed G4100 in G1519 the name G3686 of the only begotten G3439 Son G5207 of God. G2316
Whoso eateth G5176 my G3450 flesh, G4561 and G2532 drinketh G4095 my G3450 blood, G129 hath G2192 eternal G166 life; G2222 and G2532 I G1473 will raise G450 him G846 up G450 at the last G2078 day. G2250
Much G4183 more G3123 then, G3767 being G1344 now G3568 justified G1344 by G1722 his G846 blood, G129 we shall be saved G4982 from G575 wrath G3709 through G1223 him. G846 For G1063 if, G1487 when we were G5607 enemies, G2190 we were reconciled G2644 to God G2316 by G1223 the death G2288 of his G846 Son, G5207 much G4183 more, G3123 being reconciled, G2644 we shall be saved G4982 by G1722 his G846 life. G2222
For G1063 ye are dead, G599 and G2532 your G5216 life G2222 is hid G2928 with G4862 Christ G5547 in G1722 God. G2316 When G3752 Christ, G5547 who is our G2257 life, G2222 shall appear, G5319 then G5119 shall G5319 ye G5210 also G2532 appear G5319 with G4862 him G846 in G1722 glory. G1391
He that hath G2192 the Son G5207 hath G2192 life; G2222 and he that hath G2192 not G3361 the Son G5207 of God G2316 hath G2192 not G3756 life. G2222 These things G5023 have I written G1125 unto you G5213 that believe G4100 on G1519 the name G3686 of the Son G5207 of God; G2316 that G2443 ye may know G1492 that ye G3754 have G2192 eternal G166 life, G2222 and G2532 that G2443 ye may believe G4100 on G1519 the name G3686 of the Son G5207 of God. G2316
And G1161 this G5124 is G2076 the will G2307 of him that sent G3992 me, G3165 that G2443 every one G3956 which G3588 seeth G2334 the Son, G5207 and G2532 believeth G4100 on G1519 him, G846 may have G2192 everlasting G166 life: G2222 and G2532 I G1473 will raise G450 him G846 up G450 at the last G2078 day. Commentary on John 6 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 6
In this chapter we have,
Jhn 6:1-14
We have here an account of Christ's feeding five thousand men with five loaves and two fishes, which miracle is in this respect remarkable, that it is the only passage of the actions of Christ's life that is recorded by all the four evangelists. John, who does not usually relate what had been recorded by those who wrote before him, yet relates this, because of the reference the following discourse has to it. Observe,
Jhn 6:15-21
Here is,
Jhn 6:22-27
In these verses we have,
Jhn 6:28-59
Whether this conference was with the Capernaites, in whose synagogue Christ now was, or with those who came from the other side of the sea, is not certain nor material; however, it is an instance of Christ's condescension that he gave them leave to ask him questions, and did not resent the interruption as an affront, no, not from his common hearers, though not his immediate followers. Those that would be apt to teach must be swift to hear, and study to answer. It is the wisdom of teachers, when they are asked even impertinent unprofitable questions, thence to take occasion to answer in that which is profitable, that the question may be rejected, but not the request. Now,
Jhn 6:60-71
We have here an account of the effects of Christ's discourse. Some were offended and others edified by it; some driven from him and others brought nearer to him.
