29 We G2249 know G1492 that G3754 God G2316 spake G2980 unto Moses: G3475 as for this G1161 G5126 fellow, we know G1492 not G3756 from whence G4159 he is. G2076
Jesus G2424 answered G611 and G2532 said G2036 unto them, G846 Though G2579 I G1473 bear record G3140 of G4012 myself, G1683 yet my G3450 record G3141 is G2076 true: G227 for G3754 I know G1492 whence G4159 I came, G2064 and G2532 whither G4226 I go; G5217 but G1161 ye G5210 cannot G3756 tell G1492 whence G4159 I come, G2064 and G2532 whither G4226 I go. G5217
And said, G2036 This G3778 fellow said, G5346 I am able G1410 to destroy G2647 the temple G3485 of God, G2316 and G2532 to build G3618 it G846 in G1223 three G5140 days. G2250
Who was G5607 faithful G4103 to him that appointed G4160 him, G846 as G5613 also G2532 Moses G3475 was faithful in G1722 all G3650 his G846 house. G3624 For G1063 this G3778 man was counted worthy G515 of more G4119 glory G1391 than G3844 Moses, G3475 inasmuch as G2596 G3745 he who hath builded G2680 the house G3624 hath more G4119 honour G5092 than G2192 the house. G846 For G1063 every G3956 house G3624 is builded G2680 by G5259 some G5100 man; but G1161 he that built G2680 all things G3956 is God. G2316 And G2532 Moses G3475 verily G3303 was faithful G4103 in G1722 all G3650 his G846 house, G3624 as G5613 a servant, G2324 for G1519 a testimony G3142 of those things which were to be spoken after; G2980
Having G5177 therefore G3767 obtained G5177 help G1947 of G3844 God, G2316 I continue G2476 unto G891 this G5026 day, G2250 witnessing G3140 both G5037 to small G3398 and G2532 great, G3173 saying G3004 none other things G3762 than G1622 those which G3739 G5037 the prophets G4396 and G2532 Moses G3475 did say G2980 should G3195 come: G1096
And G1161 they gave G191 him G846 audience G191 unto G891 this G5127 word, G3056 and G2532 then lifted up G1869 their G846 voices, G5456 and said, G3004 Away with G142 such G5108 a fellow from G575 the earth: G1093 for G1063 it is G2520 not G3756 fit G2520 that he G846 should live. G2198
This G5126 Moses G3475 whom G3739 they refused, G720 saying, G2036 Who G5101 made G2525 thee G4571 a ruler G758 and G2532 a judge? G1348 the same G5126 did God G2316 send G649 to be a ruler G758 and G2532 a deliverer G3086 by G1722 the hand G5495 of the angel G32 which G3588 appeared G3700 to him G846 in G1722 the bush. G942
Then G3767 again G1208 G1537 called they G5455 the man G444 that G3739 was G2258 blind, G5185 and G2532 said G2036 unto him, G846 Give G1325 God G2316 the praise: G1391 we G2249 know G1492 that G3754 this G3778 man G444 is G2076 a sinner. G268
Therefore G3767 said G3004 some G5100 of G1537 the Pharisees, G5330 This G3778 man G444 is G2076 not G3756 of G3844 God, G2316 because G3754 he keepeth G5083 not G3756 the sabbath day. G4521 Others G243 said, G3004 How G4459 can G1410 a man G444 that is a sinner G268 do G4160 such G5108 miracles? G4592 And G2532 there was G2258 a division G4978 among G1722 them. G846
Others G243 said, G3004 This G3778 is G2076 the Christ. G5547 But G1161 some G243 said, G3004 G1063 Shall G3361 Christ G5547 come G2064 out of G1537 Galilee? G1056 Hath not G3780 the scripture G1124 said, G2036 That G3754 Christ G5547 cometh G2064 of G1537 the seed G4690 of David, G1138 and G2532 out of G575 the town G2968 of Bethlehem, G965 where G3699 David G1138 was? G2258
Howbeit G235 we know G1492 this man G5126 whence G4159 he is: G2076 but G1161 when G3752 Christ G5547 cometh, G2064 no man G3762 knoweth G1097 whence G4159 he is. G2076
For G3754 the law G3551 was given G1325 by G1223 Moses, G3475 but grace G5485 and G2532 truth G225 came G1096 by G1223 Jesus G2424 Christ. G5547
And they said, H559 Hath the LORD H3068 indeed spoken H1696 only by Moses? H4872 hath he not spoken H1696 also by us? And the LORD H3068 heard H8085 it. (Now the man H376 Moses H4872 was very H3966 meek, H6035 H6035 above all the men H120 which were upon the face H6440 of the earth.) H127 And the LORD H3068 spake H559 suddenly H6597 unto Moses, H4872 and unto Aaron, H175 and unto Miriam, H4813 Come out H3318 ye three H7969 unto the tabernacle H168 of the congregation. H4150 And they three H7969 came out. H3318 And the LORD H3068 came down H3381 in the pillar H5982 of the cloud, H6051 and stood H5975 in the door H6607 of the tabernacle, H168 and called H7121 Aaron H175 and Miriam: H4813 and they both H8147 came forth. H3318 And he said, H559 Hear H8085 now my words: H1697 If there be a prophet H5030 among you, I the LORD H3068 will make myself known H3045 unto him in a vision, H4759 and will speak H1696 unto him in a dream. H2472 My servant H5650 Moses H4872 is not so, who is faithful H539 in all mine house. H1004
For he shall grow up H5927 before H6440 him as a tender plant, H3126 and as a root H8328 out of a dry H6723 ground: H776 he hath no form H8389 nor comeliness; H1926 and when we shall see H7200 him, there is no beauty H4758 that we should desire H2530 him. He is despised H959 and rejected H2310 of men; H376 a man H376 of sorrows, H4341 and acquainted H3045 with grief: H2483 and we hid as it were H4564 our faces H6440 from him; he was despised, H959 and we esteemed H2803 him not.
He made known H3045 his ways H1870 unto Moses, H4872 his acts H5949 unto the children H1121 of Israel. H3478
But I am a worm, H8438 and no man; H376 a reproach H2781 of men, H120 and despised H959 of the people. H5971
And say, H559 Thus saith H559 the king, H4428 Put H7760 this fellow in the prison, H1004 H3608 and feed H398 him with bread H3899 of affliction H3906 and with water H4325 of affliction, H3906 until I come H935 in peace. H7965

Commentary on John 9 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 9
After Christ's departure out of the temple, in the close of the foregoing chapter, and before this happened which is recorded in this chapter, he had been for some time abroad in the country, it is supposed about two or three months; in which interval of time Dr. Lightfoot and other harmonists place all the passages that occur from Lu. 10:17 to 13:17. What is recorded in ch. 7 and 8 was at the feast of tabernacles, in September; what is recorded in this and the following chapter was at the feast of dedication in December, ch. 10:22. Mr. Clark and others place this immediately after the foregoing chapter. In this chapter we have,
Jhn 9:1-7
We have here sight given to a poor beggar that had been blind from his birth. Observe,
Now,
Jhn 9:8-12
Such a wonderful event as the giving of sight to a man born blind could not but be the talk of the town, and many heeded it no more than they do other town-talk, that is but nine days' wonder; but here we are told what the neighbours said of it, for the confirmation of the matter of fact. That which at first was not believed without scrutiny may afterwards be admitted without scruple. Two things are debated in this conference about it:-
Jhn 9:13-34
One would have expected that such a miracle as Christ wrought upon the blind man would have settled his reputation, and silenced and shamed all opposition, but it had the contrary effect; instead of being embraced as a prophet for it, he is prosecuted as a criminal.
Jhn 9:35-38
In these verses we may observe,
Jhn 9:39-41
Christ, having spoken comfort to the poor man that was persecuted, here speaks conviction to his persecutors, a specimen of the distributions of trouble and rest at the great day, 2 Th. 1:6, 7. Probably this was not immediately after his discourse with the man, but he took the next opportunity that offered itself to address the Pharisees. Here is,
