14 Now therefore fear H3372 the LORD, H3068 and serve H5647 him in sincerity H8549 and in truth: H571 and put away H5493 the gods H430 which your fathers H1 served H5647 on the other side H5676 of the flood, H5104 and in Egypt; H4714 and serve H5647 ye the LORD. H3068
Now therefore put away, H5493 said he, the strange H5236 gods H430 which are among H7130 you, and incline H5186 your heart H3824 unto the LORD H3068 God H430 of Israel. H3478
Only fear H3372 the LORD, H3068 and serve H5647 him in truth H571 with all your heart: H3824 for consider H7200 how great things he hath done H1431 for you.
And now, Israel, H3478 what doth the LORD H3068 thy God H430 require H7592 of thee, but to fear H3372 the LORD H3068 thy God, H430 to walk H3212 in all his ways, H1870 and to love H157 him, and to serve H5647 the LORD H3068 thy God H430 with all thy heart H3824 and with all thy soul, H5315
Thou shalt be perfect H8549 with the LORD H3068 thy God. H430
For G1063 our G2257 rejoicing G2746 is G2076 this, G3778 the testimony G3142 of our G2257 conscience, G4893 that G3754 in G1722 simplicity G572 and G2532 godly G2316 sincerity, G1505 not G3756 with G1722 fleshly G4559 wisdom, G4678 but G235 by G1722 the grace G5485 of God, G2316 we have had our conversation G390 in G1722 the world, G2889 and G1161 more abundantly G4056 to G4314 you-ward. G5209
And Joshua H3091 said H559 unto all the people, H5971 Thus saith H559 the LORD H3068 God H430 of Israel, H3478 Your fathers H1 dwelt H3427 on the other side H5676 of the flood H5104 in old time, H5769 even Terah, H8646 the father H1 of Abraham, H85 and the father H1 of Nachor: H5152 and they served H5647 other H312 gods. H430
That G1519 ye G5209 may approve G1381 things that are excellent; G1308 that G2443 ye may be G5600 sincere G1506 and G2532 without offence G677 till G1519 the day G2250 of Christ; G5547
Grace G5485 be with G3326 all G3956 them that love G25 our G2257 Lord G2962 Jesus G2424 Christ G5547 in G1722 sincerity. G861 Amen. G281
Then G3303 G3767 had G2192 the churches G1577 rest G1515 throughout G2596 all G3650 Judaea G2449 and G2532 Galilee G1056 and G2532 Samaria, G4540 and were edified; G3618 and G2532 walking in G4198 the fear G5401 of the Lord, G2962 and G2532 in the comfort G3874 of the Holy G40 Ghost, G4151 were multiplied. G4129
But G235 the hour G5610 cometh, G2064 and G2532 now G3568 is, G2076 when G3753 the true G228 worshippers G4353 shall worship G4352 the Father G3962 in G1722 spirit G4151 and G2532 in truth: G225 for G2532 G1063 the Father G3962 seeketh G2212 such G5108 to worship G4352 him. G846 God G2316 is a Spirit: G4151 and G2532 they that worship G4352 him G846 must G1163 worship G4352 him in G1722 spirit G4151 and G2532 in truth. G225
But G1161 that on G1722 the good G2570 ground G1093 are G1526 they, G3778 which G3748 in G1722 an honest G2570 and G2532 good G18 heart, G2588 having heard G191 the word, G3056 keep G2722 it, and G2532 bring forth fruit G2592 with G1722 patience. G5281
Have ye offered H5066 unto me sacrifices H2077 and offerings H4503 in the wilderness H4057 forty H705 years, H8141 O house H1004 of Israel? H3478 But ye have borne H5375 the tabernacle H5522 of your Moloch H4428 and Chiun H3594 your images, H6754 the star H3556 of your god, H430 which ye made H6213 to yourselves.
And when Abram H87 was ninety H8673 H8141 years H8141 old H1121 and nine, H8672 the LORD H3068 appeared H7200 to Abram, H87 and said H559 unto him, I am the Almighty H7706 God; H410 walk H1980 before me, H6440 and be thou perfect. H8549
But I said H559 unto their children H1121 in the wilderness, H4057 Walk H3212 ye not in the statutes H2706 of your fathers, H1 neither observe H8104 their judgments, H4941 nor defile H2930 yourselves with their idols: H1544
Then said H559 I unto them, Cast ye away H7993 every man H376 the abominations H8251 of his eyes, H5869 and defile H2930 not yourselves with the idols H1544 of Egypt: H4714 I am the LORD H3068 your God. H430 But they rebelled H4784 against me, and would H14 not hearken H8085 unto me: they did not every man H376 cast away H7993 the abominations H8251 of their eyes, H5869 neither did they forsake H5800 the idols H1544 of Egypt: H4714 then I said, H559 I will pour out H8210 my fury H2534 upon them, to accomplish H3615 my anger H639 against them in the midst H8432 of the land H776 of Egypt. H4714
But there is forgiveness H5547 with thee, that thou mayest be feared. H3372
Let my heart H3820 be sound H8549 in thy statutes; H2706 that I be not ashamed. H954
The fear H3374 of the LORD H3068 is the beginning H7225 of wisdom: H2451 a good H2896 understanding H7922 have all they that do H6213 his commandments: his praise H8416 endureth H5975 for ever. H5703
Which thou hast commanded H6680 by H3027 thy servants H5650 the prophets, H5030 saying, H559 The land, H776 unto which ye go H935 to possess H3423 it, is an unclean H5079 land H776 with the filthiness H5079 of the people H5971 of the lands, H776 with their abominations, H8441 which have filled H4390 it from one end H6310 to another H6310 with their uncleanness. H2932
Thou shalt have no other H312 gods H430 before me. H6440 Thou shalt not make H6213 unto thee any graven image, H6459 or any likeness H8544 of any thing that H834 is in heaven H8064 above, H4605 or that is in the earth H776 beneath, or that is in the water H4325 under the earth: H776
Said H559 he not unto me, She H1931 is my sister? H269 and she, H1931 even H1571 she H1931 herself said, H559 He is my brother: H251 in the integrity H8537 of my heart H3824 and innocency H5356 of my hands H3709 have I done H6213 this. And God H430 said H559 unto him in a dream, H2472 Yea, H1571 I know H3045 that thou didst H6213 this in the integrity H8537 of thy heart; H3824 for I also withheld H2820 thee from sinning H2398 against me: therefore suffered H5414 I thee not to touch H5060 her.

Commentary on Joshua 24 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 24
This chapter concludes the life and reign of Joshua, in which we have,
Jos 24:1-14
Joshua thought he had taken his last farewell of Israel in the solemn charge he gave them in the foregoing chapter, when he said, I go the way of all the earth; but God graciously continuing his life longer than expected, and renewing his strength, he was desirous to improve it for the good of Israel. He did not say, "I have taken my leave of them once, and let that serve;' but, having yet a longer space given him, he summons them together again, that he might try what more he could do to engage them for God. Note, We must never think our work for God done till our life is done; and, if he lengthen out our days beyond what we thought, we must conclude it is because he has some further service for us to do.
The assembly is the same with that in the foregoing chapter, the elders, heads, judges, and officers of Israel, v. 1. But it is here made somewhat more solemn than it was there.
Jos 24:15-28
Never was any treaty carried on with better management, nor brought to a better issue, than this of Joshua with the people, to engage them to serve God. The manner of his dealing with them shows him to have been in earnest, and that his heart was much upon it, to leave them under all possible obligations to cleave to him, particularly the obligation of a choice and of a covenant.
The matter being thus settled, Joshua dismissed this assembly of the grandees of Israel (v. 28), and took his last leave of them, well satisfied in having done his part, by which he had delivered his soul; if they perished, their blood would be upon their own heads.
Jos 24:29-33
This book, which began with triumphs, here ends with funerals, by which all the glory of man is stained. We have here
