13 Then said H559 Micah, H4318 Now know H3045 I that the LORD H3068 will do me good, H3190 seeing I have a Levite H3881 to my priest. H3548
There is H3426 a way H1870 which seemeth right H3477 unto H6440 a man, H376 but the end H319 thereof are the ways H1870 of death. H4194
He feedeth H7462 on ashes: H665 a deceived H2048 heart H3820 hath turned him aside, H5186 that he cannot deliver H5337 his soul, H5315 nor say, H559 Is there not a lie H8267 in my right hand? H3225
He that killeth H7819 an ox H7794 is as if he slew H5221 a man; H376 he that sacrificeth H2076 a lamb, H7716 as if he cut off H6202 a dog's H3611 neck; H6202 he that offereth H5927 an oblation, H4503 as if he offered swine's H2386 blood; H1818 he that burneth H2142 incense, H3828 as if he blessed H1288 an idol. H205 Yea, they have chosen H977 their own ways, H1870 and their soul H5315 delighteth H2654 in their abominations. H8251 I also will choose H977 their delusions, H8586 and will bring H935 their fears H4035 upon them; because when I called, H7121 none did answer; H6030 when I spake, H1696 they did not hear: H8085 but they did H6213 evil H7451 before mine eyes, H5869 and chose H977 that in which I delighted H2654 not.
But G1161 in vain G3155 they do worship G4576 me, G3165 teaching G1321 for doctrines G1319 the commandments G1778 of men. G444
I G1473 verily G3303 G3767 thought G1380 with myself, G1683 that I ought G1163 to do G4238 many things G4183 contrary G1727 to G4314 the name G3686 of Jesus G2424 of Nazareth. G3480
For G1063 I bear G3140 them G846 record G3140 that G3754 they have G2192 a zeal G2205 of God, G2316 but G235 not G3756 according G2596 to knowledge. G1922 For G1063 they being ignorant G50 of God's G2316 righteousness, G1343 and G2532 going about G2212 to establish G2476 their own G2398 righteousness, G1343 have G5293 not G3756 submitted themselves G5293 unto the righteousness G1343 of God. Commentary on Judges 17 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 17
All agree that what is related in this and the rest of the chapters to the end of this book was not done, as the narrative occurs, after Samson, but long before, even soon after the death of Joshua, in the days of Phinehas the son of Eleazar, ch. 20:28. But it is cast here into the latter part of the book that it might not interrupt the history of the Judges. That it might appear how happy the nation was in the judges it is here shown how unhappy they were when there was none.

Here we have,
Jdg 17:7-13
We have here an account of Micah's furnishing himself with a Levite for his chaplain, either thinking his son, because the heir of his estate, too good to officiate, or rather, because not of God's tribe, not good enough. Observe,
