20 The breath H7307 of our nostrils, H639 the anointed H4899 of the LORD, H3068 was taken H3920 in their pits, H7825 of whom we said, H559 Under his shadow H6738 we shall live H2421 among the heathen. H1471
My net H7568 also will I spread H6566 upon him, and he shall be taken H8610 in my snare: H4686 and I will bring H935 him to Babylon H894 to the land H776 of the Chaldeans; H3778 yet shall he not see H7200 it, though he shall die H4191 there.
But the Chaldeans' H3778 army H2428 pursued H7291 after H310 them, and overtook H5381 Zedekiah H6667 in the plains H6160 of Jericho: H3405 and when they had taken H3947 him, they brought him up H5927 to Nebuchadnezzar H5019 king H4428 of Babylon H894 to Riblah H7247 in the land H776 of Hamath, H2574 where he gave H1696 judgment H4941 upon him.
And the LORD H3068 God H430 formed H3335 man H120 of the dust H6083 of H4480 the ground, H127 and breathed H5301 into his nostrils H639 the breath H5397 of life; H2416 and man H120 became a living H2416 soul. H5315
I have found H4672 David H1732 my servant; H5650 with my holy H6944 oil H8081 have I anointed H4886 him: With whom my hand H3027 shall be established: H3559 mine arm H2220 also shall strengthen H553 him.
The nations H1471 also heard H8085 of him; he was taken H8610 in their pit, H7845 and they brought H935 him with chains H2397 unto the land H776 of Egypt. H4714 Now when she saw H7200 that she had waited, H3176 and her hope H8615 was lost, H6 then she took H3947 another H259 of her whelps, H1482 and made H7760 him a young lion. H3715 And he went up and down H1980 among H8432 the lions, H738 he became a young lion, H3715 and learned H3925 to catch H2963 the prey, H2964 and devoured H398 men. H120 And he knew H3045 their desolate palaces, H490 and he laid waste H2717 their cities; H5892 and the land H776 was desolate, H3456 and the fulness H4393 thereof, by the noise H6963 of his roaring. H7581 Then the nations H1471 set H5414 against him on every side H5439 from the provinces, H4082 and spread H6566 their net H7568 over him: he was taken H8610 in their pit. H7845
But the army H2428 of the Chaldeans H3778 pursued H7291 after H310 the king, H4428 and overtook H5381 Zedekiah H6667 in the plains H6160 of Jericho; H3405 and all his army H2428 was scattered H6327 from him.
Now therefore when I come H935 to thy servant H5650 my father, H1 and the lad H5288 be not with us; seeing that his life H5315 is bound up H7194 in the lad's life; H5315
But the people H5971 answered, H559 Thou shalt not go forth: H3318 for if we flee H5127 away, H5127 they will not care H7760 H3820 for us; neither if half H2677 of us die, H4191 will they care H7760 H3820 for us: but now thou art worth H3644 ten H6235 thousand H505 of us: therefore now it is better H2896 that thou succour H5826 H5826 us out of the city. H5892
Ye mountains H2022 of Gilboa, H1533 let there be no dew, H2919 neither let there be rain, H4306 upon you, nor fields H7704 of offerings: H8641 for there the shield H4043 of the mighty H1368 is vilely cast away, H1602 the shield H4043 of Saul, H7586 as though he had not been anointed H4899 with oil. H8081
This thing H1697 is not good H2896 that thou hast done. H6213 As the LORD H3068 liveth, H2416 ye are worthy H1121 to die, H4194 because ye have not kept H8104 your master, H113 the LORD'S H3068 anointed. H4899 And now see H7200 where the king's H4428 spear H2595 is, and the cruse H6835 of water H4325 that was at his bolster. H4763
Behold, this day H3117 thine eyes H5869 have seen H7200 how that the LORD H3068 had delivered H5414 thee to day H3117 into mine hand H3027 in the cave: H4631 and some bade H559 me kill H2026 thee: but mine eye spared H2347 thee; and I said, H559 I will not put forth H7971 mine hand H3027 against my lord; H113 for he is the LORD'S H3068 anointed. H4899
And he said H559 unto them, The LORD H3068 is witness H5707 against you, and his anointed H4899 is witness H5707 this day, H3117 that ye have not found H4672 ought H3972 in my hand. H3027 And they answered, H559 He is witness. H5707
Behold, here I am: witness H6030 against me before the LORD, H3068 and before his anointed: H4899 whose ox H7794 have I taken? H3947 or whose ass H2543 have I taken? H3947 or whom have I defrauded? H6231 whom have I oppressed? H7533 or of whose hand H3027 have I received any bribe H3724 to blind H5956 mine eyes H5869 therewith? and I will restore H7725 it you.

Commentary on Lamentations 4 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 4
This chapter is another single alphabet of Lamentations for the destruction of Jerusalem, like those in the first two chapters.
Lam 4:1-12
The elegy in this chapter begins with a lamentation of the very sad and doleful change which the judgments of God had made in Jerusalem. The city that was formerly as gold, as the most fine gold, so rich and splendid, the perfection of beauty and the joy of the whole earth, has become dim, and is changed, has lost its lustre, lost its value, is not what it was; it has become dross. Alas! what an alteration is here!
Lam 4:13-20
We have here,
Lam 4:21-22
David's psalms of lamentation commonly conclude with some word of comfort, which is as life from the dead and light shining out of darkness; so does this lamentation here in this chapter. The people of God are now in great distress, their aspects all doleful, their prospects all frightful, and their ill-natured neighbours the Edomites insult over them and do all they can to exasperate their destroyers against them. Such was their violence against their brother Jacob (Obad. 10), such their spleen at Jerusalem, of which they cried, Rase it, rase it, Ps. 137:7. Now it is here foretold, for the encouragement of God's people,
