46 And G2532 when Jesus G2424 had cried G5455 with a loud G3173 voice, G5456 he said, G2036 Father, G3962 into G1519 thy G4675 hands G5495 I commend G3908 my G3450 spirit: G4151 and G2532 having said G2036 thus, G5023 he gave up the ghost. G1606
And G2532 at the ninth G1766 hour G5610 Jesus G2424 cried G994 with a loud G3173 voice, G5456 saying, G3004 Eloi, G1682 Eloi, G1682 lama G2982 sabachthani? G4518 which G3739 is, G2076 being interpreted, G3177 My G3450 God, G2316 my G3450 God, G2316 why G5101 hast G1519 thou forsaken G1459 me? G3165 And G2532 some of them G5100 that stood by, G3936 when they heard G191 it, said, G3004 Behold, G2400 he calleth G5455 Elias. G2243 And G1161 one G1520 ran G5143 and G2532 filled G1072 a spunge G4699 full G1072 of vinegar, G3690 and G5037 put it on G4060 a reed, G2563 and gave G4222 him G846 to drink, G4222 saying, G3004 Let alone; G863 let us see G1492 whether G1487 Elias G2243 will come G2064 to take G2507 him G846 down. G2507 And G1161 Jesus G2424 cried G863 with a loud G3173 voice, G5456 and gave up the ghost. G1606 And G2532 the veil G2665 of the temple G3485 was rent G4977 in G1519 twain G1417 from G575 the top G509 to G2193 the bottom. G2316 There G1161 were G2258 also G2532 women G1135 looking G2334 on afar G3113 off: G575 among G2532 G1722 whom G3739 was G2258 Mary G3137 Magdalene, G3094 and G2532 Mary G3137 the mother G3384 of James G2385 the less G3398 and G2532 of Joses, G2500 and G2532 Salome; G4539 (Who G3739 also, G2532 when G3753 he was G2258 in G1722 Galilee, G1056 followed G190 him, G846 and G2532 ministered G1247 unto him;) G846 and G2532 many G4183 other G243 women which G3588 came up G4872 with him G846 unto G1519 Jerusalem. G2414
And G1161 about G4012 the ninth G1766 hour G5610 Jesus G2424 cried G310 with a loud G3173 voice, G5456 saying, G3004 Eli, G2241 Eli, G2241 lama G2982 sabachthani? G4518 that G5123 is to say, My G3450 God, G2316 my G3450 God, G2316 why G2444 hast thou forsaken G1459 me? G3165 G1161 Some of them G5100 that stood G2476 there, G1563 when they heard G191 that, said, G3004 G3754 This G3778 man calleth for G5455 Elias. G2243 And G2532 straightway G2112 one G1520 of G1537 them G846 ran, G5143 and G2532 took G2983 a spunge, G4699 and G5037 filled G4130 it with vinegar, G3690 and G2532 put it on G4060 a reed, G2563 and gave G4222 him G846 to drink. G4222 The G1161 rest G3062 said, G3004 Let be, G863 let us see G1492 whether G1487 Elias G2243 will come G2064 to save G4982 him. G846 G1161 Jesus, G2424 when he had cried G2896 again G3825 with a loud G3173 voice, G5456 yielded up G863 the ghost. G4151 And, G2532 behold, G2400 the veil G2665 of the temple G3485 was rent G4977 in G1519 twain G1417 from G575 the top G509 to G2193 the bottom; G2736 and G2532 the earth G1093 did quake, G4579 and G2532 the rocks G4073 rent; G4977 And G2532 the graves G3419 were opened; G455 and G2532 many G4183 bodies G4983 of the saints G40 which G3588 slept G2837 arose, G1453 And G2532 came G1831 out of G1537 the graves G3419 after G3326 his G846 resurrection, G1454 and went G1525 into G1519 the holy G40 city, G4172 and G2532 appeared G1718 unto many. G4183 Now G1161 when the centurion, G1543 and G2532 they that were with G3326 him, G846 watching G5083 Jesus, G2424 saw G1492 the earthquake, G4578 and G2532 those things that were done, G1096 they feared G5399 greatly, G4970 saying, G3004 Truly G230 this G3778 was G2258 the Son G5207 of God. G2316 And G1161 many G4183 women G1135 were G2258 there G1563 beholding G2334 afar off, G575 G3113 which G3748 followed G190 Jesus G2424 from G575 Galilee, G1056 ministering G1247 unto him: G846 Among G1722 which G3739 was G2258 Mary G3137 Magdalene, G3094 and G2532 Mary G3137 the mother G3384 of James G2385 and G2532 Joses, G2500 and G2532 the mother G3384 of Zebedee's G2199 children. Commentary on Luke 23 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 23
This chapter carries on and concludes the history of Christ's sufferings and death. We have here,
Luk 23:1-12
Our Lord Jesus was condemned as a blasphemer in the spiritual court, but it was the most impotent malice that could be that this court was actuated by; for, when they had condemned him, they knew they could not put him to death, and therefore took another course.
Luk 23:13-25
We have here the blessed Jesus run down by the mob, and hurried to the cross in the storm of a popular noise and tumult, raised by the malice and artifice of the chief priests, as agents for the prince of the power of the air.
Luk 23:26-31
We have here the blessed Jesus, the Lamb of God, led as a lamb to the slaughter, to the sacrifice. It is strange with what expedition they went through his trial; how they could do so much work in such a little time, though they had so many great men to deal with, attendance on whom is usually a work of time. He was brought before the chief priests at break of day (ch. 22:66), after that to Pilate, then to Herod, then to Pilate again; and there seems to have been a long struggle between Pilate and the people about him. He was scourged, and crowned with thorns and contumeliously used, and all this was done in four or five hours' time, or six at most, for he was crucified between nine o'clock and twelve. Christ's persecutors resolve to lose no time, for fear lest his friends at the other end of the town should get notice of what they were doing, and should rise to rescue him. Never any one was so chased out of the world as Christ was, but so he himself said, Yet a little while and ye shall not see me; a very little while indeed. Now as they led him away to death we find,

Luk 23:44-49

Luk 23:50-56
We have here an account of Christ's burial; for he must be brought not only to death, but to the dust of death (Ps. 22:15), according to the sentence (Gen. 3:19), To the dust thou shalt return. Observe,
