20 And G2532 he closed G4428 the book, G975 and he gave it again G591 to the minister, G5257 and sat down. G2523 And G2532 the eyes G3788 of all them G3956 that were G2258 in G1722 the synagogue G4864 were fastened G816 on him. G846
And G2532 there was delivered G1929 unto him G846 the book G975 of the prophet G4396 Esaias. G2268 And G2532 when he had opened G380 the book, G975 he found G2147 the place G5117 where G3757 it was G2258 written, G1125
In G1722 that same G1565 hour G5610 said G2036 Jesus G2424 to the multitudes, G3793 Are ye come out G1831 as G5613 against G1909 a thief G3027 with G3326 swords G3162 and G2532 staves G3586 for to take G4815 me? G3165 I sat G2516 daily G2250 G2596 with G4314 you G5209 teaching G1321 in G1722 the temple, G2411 and G2532 ye laid G2902 no G3756 hold G2902 on me. G3165
And G1161 early in the morning G3722 he came G3854 again G3825 into G1519 the temple, G2411 and G2532 all G3956 the people G2992 came G2064 unto G4314 him; G846 and G2532 he sat down, G2523 and taught G1321 them. G846
And G1161 seeing G1492 the multitudes, G3793 he went up G305 into G1519 a mountain: G3735 and G2532 when he G846 was set, G2523 his G846 disciples G3101 came G4334 unto him: G846 And G2532 he opened G455 his G846 mouth, G4750 and taught G1321 them, G846 saying, G3004
G1161 The same G1722 G1565 day G2250 went G1831 Jesus G2424 out of G575 the house, G3614 and sat G2521 by G3844 the sea side. G2281 And G2532 great G4183 multitudes G3793 were gathered together G4863 unto G4314 him, G846 so that G5620 he G846 went G1684 into G1519 a ship, G4143 and sat; G2521 and G2532 the whole G3956 multitude G3793 stood G2476 on G1909 the shore. G123
But G1161 it shall G2071 not G3756 be G2071 so G3779 among G1722 you: G5213 but G235 whosoever G3739 G1437 will G2309 be G1096 great G3173 among G1722 you, G5213 let him be G2077 your G5216 minister; G1249 And G2532 whosoever G3739 G1437 will G2309 be G1511 chief G4413 among G1722 you, G5213 let him be G2077 your G5216 servant: G1401 Even as G5618 the Son G5207 of man G444 came G2064 not G3756 to be ministered unto, G1247 but G235 to minister, G1247 and G2532 to give G1325 his G846 life G5590 a ransom G3083 for G473 many. G4183
And G1161 he entered G1684 into G1519 one G1520 of the ships, G4143 which G3739 was G2258 Simon's, G4613 and prayed G2065 him G846 that he would thrust out G1877 a little G3641 from G575 the land. G1093 And G2532 he sat down, G2523 and taught G1321 the people G3793 out of G1537 the ship. G4143
And G1161 when Peter G4074 saw G1492 it, he answered G611 unto G4314 the people, G2992 Ye men G435 of Israel, G2475 why G5101 marvel ye G2296 at G1909 this? G5129 or G2228 why G5101 look ye so earnestly G816 on us, G2254 as though G5613 by our own G2398 power G1411 or G2228 holiness G2150 we had made G4160 this man G846 to walk? G4043
But G1161 when they G846 departed G1330 from G575 Perga, G4011 they came G3854 to G1519 Antioch G490 in Pisidia, G4099 and G2532 went G1525 into G1519 the synagogue G4864 on the sabbath G4521 day, G2250 and sat down. G2523 And G1161 after G3326 the reading G320 of the law G3551 and G2532 the prophets G4396 the rulers of the synagogue G752 sent G649 unto G4314 them, G846 saying, G3004 Ye men G435 and brethren, G80 if G1487 ye have G2076 G1722 G5213 any word G3056 of exhortation G3874 for G4314 the people, G2992 say on. G3004 Then G1161 Paul G3972 stood up, G450 and G2532 beckoning G2678 with his hand G5495 said, G2036 Men G435 of Israel, G2475 and G2532 ye that fear G5399 God, G2316 give audience. G191

Commentary on Luke 4 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 4
We left Christ newly baptized, and owned by a voice from heaven and the descent of the Holy Ghost upon him. Now, in this chapter, we have,
Luk 4:1-13
The last words of the foregoing chapter, that Jesus was the Son of Adam, bespeak him to be the seed of the woman; being so, we have here, according to the promise, breaking the serpent's head, baffling and foiling the devil in all his temptations, who by one temptation had baffled and foiled our first parents. Thus, in the beginning of the war, he made reprisals upon him, and conquered the conqueror.
In this story of Christ's temptation, observe,
Now,
Luk 4:14-30
After Christ had vanquished the evil spirit, he made it appear how much he was under the influence of the good Spirit; and, having defended himself against the devil's assaults, he now begins to act offensively, and to make those attacks upon him, by his preaching and miracles, which he could not resist or repel. Observe,
Luk 4:31-44
When Christ was expelled Nazareth, he came to Capernaum, another city of Galilee. The account we have in these verses of his preaching and miracles there we had before, Mk. 1:21, etc. Observe,
