35 And G2532 Jesus G2424 rebuked G2008 him, G846 saying, G3004 Hold thy peace, G5392 and G2532 come G1831 out of G1537 him. G846 And G2532 when the devil G1140 had thrown G4496 him G846 in G1519 the midst, G3319 he came G1831 out of G575 him, G846 and hurt G984 him G846 not. G3367
And G1161 devils G1140 also G2532 came G1831 out of G575 many, G4183 crying out, G2896 and G2532 saying, G3004 G3754 Thou G4771 art G1488 Christ G5547 the Son G5207 of God. G2316 And G2532 he rebuking G2008 them suffered G1439 them G846 not G3756 to speak: G2980 for G3754 they knew G1492 that he G846 was G1511 Christ. G5547
But unto the wicked H7563 God H430 saith, H559 What hast thou to do to declare H5608 my statutes, H2706 or that thou shouldest take H5375 my covenant H1285 in thy mouth? H6310
And G2532 when the unclean G169 spirit G4151 had torn G4682 him, G846 and G2532 cried G2896 with a loud G3173 voice, G5456 he came G1831 out of G1537 him. G846
And G2532 unclean G169 spirits, G4151 when G3752 they saw G2334 him, G846 fell down before G4363 him, G846 and G2532 cried, G2896 saying, G3004 G3754 Thou G4771 art G1488 the Son G5207 of God. G2316 And G2532 he straitly G4183 charged G2008 them G846 that G3363 they should G4160 not G3363 make G4160 him G846 known. G5318
And G1161 they came to him, G4334 and awoke G1326 him, G846 saying, G3004 Master, G1988 master, G1988 we perish. G622 Then G1161 he arose, G1453 and rebuked G2008 the wind G417 and G2532 the raging G2830 of the water: G5204 and G2532 they ceased, G3973 and G2532 there was G1096 a calm. G1055
And, G2532 lo, G2400 a spirit G4151 taketh G2983 him, G846 and G2532 he suddenly G1810 crieth out; G2896 and G2532 it teareth G4682 him G846 that he foameth G876 again, G3326 and G2532 bruising G4937 him G846 hardly G3425 departeth G672 from G575 him. G846
And G1161 as he G846 was G4334 yet G2089 a coming, G4334 the devil G1140 threw G4486 him G846 down, G4486 and G2532 tare G4952 him. And G1161 Jesus G2424 rebuked G2008 the unclean G169 spirit, G4151 and G2532 healed G2390 the child, G3816 and G2532 delivered G591 him G846 again G591 to his G846 father. G3962
But G1161 when G1875 a stronger G2478 than he G846 shall come upon him, G1904 and overcome G3528 him, G846 he taketh G142 from him G846 all his armour G3833 wherein G1909 G3739 he trusted, G3982 and G2532 divideth G1239 his G846 spoils. G4661
The same G3778 followed G2628 Paul G3972 and G2532 us, G2254 and cried, G2896 saying, G3004 These G3778 men G444 are G1526 the servants G1401 of the most high G5310 God, G2316 which G3748 shew G2605 unto us G2254 the way G3598 of salvation. G4991 And G1161 this G5124 did she G4160 G1909 many G4183 days. G2250 But G1161 Paul, G3972 being grieved, G1278 turned G1994 and G2532 said G2036 to the spirit, G4151 I command G3853 thee G4671 in G1722 the name G3686 of Jesus G2424 Christ G5547 to come G1831 out of G575 her. G846 And G2532 he came out G1831 the same G846 hour. G5610
Therefore G1223 G5124 rejoice, G2165 ye heavens, G3772 and G2532 ye that dwell G4637 in G1722 them. G846 Woe G3759 to the inhabiters G2730 of the earth G1093 and G2532 of the sea! G2281 for G3754 the devil G1228 is come down G2597 unto G4314 you, G5209 having G2192 great G3173 wrath, G2372 because he knoweth G1492 that G3754 he hath G2192 but a short G3641 time. G2540

Commentary on Luke 4 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 4
We left Christ newly baptized, and owned by a voice from heaven and the descent of the Holy Ghost upon him. Now, in this chapter, we have,
Luk 4:1-13
The last words of the foregoing chapter, that Jesus was the Son of Adam, bespeak him to be the seed of the woman; being so, we have here, according to the promise, breaking the serpent's head, baffling and foiling the devil in all his temptations, who by one temptation had baffled and foiled our first parents. Thus, in the beginning of the war, he made reprisals upon him, and conquered the conqueror.
In this story of Christ's temptation, observe,
Now,
Luk 4:14-30
After Christ had vanquished the evil spirit, he made it appear how much he was under the influence of the good Spirit; and, having defended himself against the devil's assaults, he now begins to act offensively, and to make those attacks upon him, by his preaching and miracles, which he could not resist or repel. Observe,
Luk 4:31-44
When Christ was expelled Nazareth, he came to Capernaum, another city of Galilee. The account we have in these verses of his preaching and miracles there we had before, Mk. 1:21, etc. Observe,
