11 And G1161 when they heard G191 it, they were glad, G5463 and G2532 promised G1861 to give G1325 him G846 money. G694 And G2532 he sought G2212 how G4459 he might conveniently G2122 betray G3860 him. G846
And Ahab H256 said H559 to Elijah, H452 Hast thou found H4672 me, O mine enemy? H341 And he answered, H559 I have found H4672 thee: because thou hast sold H4376 thyself to work H6213 evil H7451 in the sight H5869 of the LORD. H3068
And he said H559 unto him, Went H1980 not mine heart H3820 with thee, when the man H376 turned H2015 again from his chariot H4818 to meet H7125 thee? Is it a time H6256 to receive H3947 money, H3701 and to receive H3947 garments, H899 and oliveyards, H2132 and vineyards, H3754 and sheep, H6629 and oxen, H1241 and menservants, H5650 and maidservants? H8198
My son, H1121 if sinners H2400 entice H6601 thee, consent H14 thou not. If they say, H559 Come H3212 with us, let us lay wait H693 for blood, H1818 let us lurk H6845 privily for the innocent H5355 without cause: H2600 Let us swallow them up H1104 alive H2416 as the grave; H7585 and whole, H8549 as those that go down H3381 into the pit: H953 We shall find H4672 all precious H3368 substance, H1952 we shall fill H4390 our houses H1004 with spoil: H7998 Cast H5307 in thy lot H1486 among H8432 us; let us all have one H259 purse: H3599 My son, H1121 walk H3212 not thou in the way H1870 with them; refrain H4513 thy foot H7272 from their path: H5410 For their feet H7272 run H7323 to evil, H7451 and make haste H4116 to shed H8210 blood. H1818
To have respect H5234 of persons H6440 is not good: H2896 for for a piece H6595 of bread H3899 that man H1397 will transgress. H6586 He H376 that hasteth H926 to be rich H1952 hath an evil H7451 eye, H5869 and considereth H3045 not that poverty H2639 shall come H935 upon him.
And G2532 they were glad, G5463 and G2532 covenanted G4934 to give G1325 him G846 money. G694 And G2532 he promised, G1843 and G2532 sought G2212 opportunity G2120 to betray G3860 him G846 unto them G846 in the absence G817 of the multitude. G3793
For G1063 the love of money G5365 is G2076 the root G4491 of all G3956 evil: G2556 which G3739 while some G5100 coveted after, G3713 they have erred G635 from G575 the faith, G4102 and G2532 pierced G4044 themselves G1438 through G4044 with many G4183 sorrows. G3601
Having G2192 eyes G3788 full G3324 of adultery, G3428 and G2532 that cannot cease from G180 sin; G266 beguiling G1185 unstable G793 souls: G5590 an heart G2588 they have G2192 exercised G1128 with covetous practices; G4124 cursed G2671 children: G5043 Which have forsaken G2641 the right G2117 way, G3598 and are gone astray, G4105 following G1811 the way G3598 of Balaam G903 the son of Bosor, G1007 who G3739 loved G25 the wages G3408 of unrighteousness; G93

Commentary on Mark 14 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 14
In this chapter begins the account which this evangelist gives of the death and sufferings of our Lord Jesus, which we are all concerned to be acquainted, not only with the history of, but with the mystery of. Here is,
Most of which passages we had before, Mt. 26.
Mar 14:1-11
We have here instances,
Now,
Now see,
Mar 14:12-31
In these verses we have,
Now, in answer to their enquiry, Christ saith that,
But Christ encourages them with a promise that they shall rally again, shall return both to their duty and to their comfort (v. 28); "After I am risen, I will gather you in from all the places wither you are scattered, Eze. 34:12. I will go before you into Galilee, will see our friends, and enjoy one another there.'
Mar 14:32-42
Christ is here entering upon his sufferings, and begins with those which were the sorest of all his sufferings, those in his soul. Here we have him in his agony; this melancholy story we had in Matthew; this agony in soul was the wormwood and the gall in the affliction and misery; and thereby it appeared that no sorrow was forced upon him, but that it was what he freely admitted.
Now the consideration of Christ's sufferings in his soul, and his sorrows for us, should be of use to us,
As those whom Christ loves he rebukes when they do amiss, so those whom he rebukes he counsels and comforts.
Mar 14:43-52
We have here the seizing of our Lord Jesus by the officers of the chief priests. This was what his enemies had long aimed at, they had often sent to take him; but he had escaped out of their hands, because his hour was not come, nor could they now have taken him, had he not freely surrendered himself. He began first to suffer in his soul, but afterward suffered in his body, that he might satisfy for sin, which begins in the heart, but afterwards makes the members of the body instruments of unrighteousness.
Mar 14:53-65
We have here Christ's arraignment, trial, conviction, and condemnation, in the ecclesiastical court, before the great sanhedrim, of which the high priest was president, or judge of the court; the same Caiaphas that had lately adjudged it expedient he should be put to death, guilty or not guilty (Jn. 11:50), and who therefore might justly be excepted against as partial.
Mar 14:66-72
We have here the story of Peter's denying Christ.
