5 And G2532 entering G1525 into G1519 the sepulchre, G3419 they saw G1492 a young man G3495 sitting G2521 on G1722 the right side, G1188 clothed G4016 in a long white G3022 garment; G4749 and G2532 they were affrighted. G1568
But G1161 Mary G3137 stood G2476 without G1854 at G4314 the sepulchre G3419 weeping: G2799 and G3767 as G5613 she wept, G2799 she stooped down, G3879 and looked into G1519 the sepulchre, G3419 And G2532 seeth G2334 two G1417 angels G32 in G1722 white G3022 sitting, G2516 the one G1520 at G4314 the head, G2776 and G2532 the other G1520 at G4314 the feet, G4228 where G3699 the body G4983 of Jesus G2424 had lain. G2749
Then I lifted up H5375 mine eyes, H5869 and looked, H7200 and behold a certain H259 man H376 clothed H3847 in linen, H906 whose loins H4975 were girded H2296 with fine gold H3800 of Uphaz: H210 His body H1472 also was like the beryl, H8658 and his face H6440 as the appearance H4758 of lightning, H1300 and his eyes H5869 as lamps H3940 of fire, H784 and his arms H2220 and his feet H4772 like in colour H5869 to polished H7044 brass, H5178 and the voice H6963 of his words H1697 like the voice H6963 of a multitude. H1995 And I Daniel H1840 alone saw H7200 the vision: H4759 for the men H582 that were with me saw H7200 not the vision; H4759 but H61 a great H1419 quaking H2731 fell H5307 upon them, so that they fled H1272 to hide H2244 themselves. Therefore I was left alone, H7604 and saw H7200 this great H1419 vision, H4759 and there remained H7604 no strength H3581 in me: for my comeliness H1935 was turned H2015 in me into corruption, H4889 and I retained H6113 no strength. H3581 Yet heard H8085 I the voice H6963 of his words: H1697 and when I heard H8085 the voice H6963 of his words, H1697 then was I in a deep sleep H7290 on my face, H6440 and my face H6440 toward the ground. H776
But G1161 when they saw G1492 him G846 walking G4043 upon G1909 the sea, G2281 they supposed G1380 it had been G1511 a spirit, G5326 and G2532 cried out: G349 For G1063 they all G3956 saw G1492 him, G846 and G2532 were troubled. G5015 And G2532 immediately G2112 he talked G2980 with G3326 them, G846 and G2532 saith G3004 unto them, G846 Be of good cheer: G2293 it is G1510 I; G1473 be G5399 not G3361 afraid. G5399
And G1161 when she saw G1492 him, she was troubled G1298 at G1909 his G846 saying, G3056 and G2532 cast in her mind G1260 what manner G4217 of salutation G783 this G3778 should be. G1498 And G2532 the angel G32 said G2036 unto her, G846 Fear G5399 not, G3361 Mary: G3137 for G1063 thou hast found G2147 favour G5485 with G3844 God. G2316
And G2532 they entered in, G1525 and found G2147 not G3756 the body G4983 of the Lord G2962 Jesus. G2424 And G2532 it came to pass, G1096 as G1722 they G846 were much perplexed G1280 thereabout, G4012 G5127 G2532 behold, G2400 two G1417 men G435 stood by G2186 them G846 in G1722 shining G797 garments: G2067 And G1161 as G1096 they G846 were G1096 afraid, G1719 and G2532 bowed down G2827 their faces G4383 to G1519 the earth, G1093 they said G2036 unto G4314 them, G846 Why G5101 seek ye G2212 the living G2198 among G3326 the dead? Commentary on Mark 16 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 16
In this chapter, we have a short account of the resurrection and ascension of the Lord Jesus: and the joys and triumphs which it furnished all believers with, will be very acceptable to those who sympathised and suffered with Christ in the foregoing chapters. Here is,
Mar 16:1-8
Never was there such a sabbath since the sabbath was first instituted as this was, which the first words of this chapter tell us was now past; during all this sabbath our Lord Jesus lay in the grave. It was to him a sabbath of rest, but a silent sabbath, it was to his disciples a melancholy sabbath, spent in tears and fears. Never were the sabbath services in the temple such an abomination to God, though they had been often so, as they were now, when the chief priests, who presided in them, had their hands full of blood, the blood of Christ. Well, this sabbath is over, and the first day of the week is the first day of a new world. We have here,
Mar 16:9-13
We have here a very short account of two of Christ's appearances, and the little credit which the report of them gained with the disciples.
