13 Thy graven images H6456 also will I cut off, H3772 and thy standing images H4676 out of the midst H7130 of thee; and thou shalt no more worship H7812 the work H4639 of thine hands. H3027
And they that escape H6412 of you shall remember H2142 me among the nations H1471 whither they shall be carried captives, H7617 because I am broken H7665 with their whorish H2181 heart, H3820 which hath departed H5493 from me, and with their eyes, H5869 which go a whoring H2181 after H310 their idols: H1544 and they shall lothe H6962 themselves H6440 for the evils H7451 which they have committed H6213 in all their abominations. H8441
Their land H776 also is full H4390 of idols; H457 they worship H7812 the work H4639 of their own hands, H3027 that which their own fingers H676 have made: H6213
At that day H3117 shall a man H120 look H8159 to his Maker, H6213 and his eyes H5869 shall have respect H7200 to the Holy H6918 One of Israel. H3478 And he shall not look H8159 to the altars, H4196 the work H4639 of his hands, H3027 neither shall respect H7200 that which his fingers H676 have made, H6213 either the groves, H842 or the images. H2553
Then will I sprinkle H2236 clean H2889 water H4325 upon you, and ye shall be clean: H2891 from all your filthiness, H2932 and from all your idols, H1544 will I cleanse H2891 you.
Neither shall they defile H2930 themselves any more with their idols, H1544 nor with their detestable things, H8251 nor with any of their transgressions: H6588 but I will save H3467 them out of all their dwellingplaces, H4186 wherein they have sinned, H2398 and will cleanse H2891 them: so shall they be my people, H5971 and I will be their God. H430
And it shall be at that day, H3117 saith H5002 the LORD, H3068 that thou shalt call H7121 me Ishi; H376 and shalt call H7121 me no more Baali. H1180 For I will take away H5493 the names H8034 of Baalim H1168 out of her mouth, H6310 and they shall no more be remembered H2142 by their name. H8034
Asshur H804 shall not save H3467 us; we will not ride H7392 upon horses: H5483 neither will we say H559 any more to the work H4639 of our hands, H3027 Ye are our gods: H430 for in thee the fatherless H3490 findeth mercy. H7355
Ephraim H669 shall say, What have I to do any more with idols? H6091 I have heard H6030 him, and observed H7789 him: I am like a green H7488 fir tree. H1265 From me is thy fruit H6529 found. H4672
And it shall come to pass in that day, H3117 saith H5002 the LORD H3068 of hosts, H6635 that I will cut off H3772 the names H8034 of the idols H6091 out of the land, H776 and they shall no more be remembered: H2142 and also I will cause the prophets H5030 and the unclean H2932 spirit H7307 to pass H5674 out of the land. Commentary on Micah 5 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 5
In this chapter we have,
Mic 5:1-6
Here, as before, we have,
Mic 5:7-15
Glorious things are here spoken of the remnant of Jacob, that remnant which was raised of her that halted (ch. 4:7), and it seems to be that remnant which the Lord our God shall call (Joel 2:32), on whom the Spirit shall be poured out, the remnant that shall be saved, Rom. 9:27. Note, God's people are but a remnant, a small number in comparison with the many that are left to perish, a little flock; but they are the remnant of Jacob, a people in covenant with God, and in his favour. Now concerning this remnant it is here promised,
