17 And Moses H4872 sent H7971 them to spy out H8446 the land H776 of Canaan, H3667 and said H559 unto them, Get you up H5927 this way southward, H5045 and go up H5927 into the mountain: H2022
And Abram H87 journeyed, H5265 going on H1980 still H5265 toward the south. H5045
And she said H559 unto him, Give H3051 me a blessing: H1293 for thou hast given H5414 me a south H5045 land; H776 give H5414 me also springs H1543 of water. H4325 And Caleb H3612 gave H5414 her the upper H5942 springs H1543 and the nether H8482 springs. H1543
So they went up, H5927 and searched H8446 the land H776 from the wilderness H4057 of Zin H6790 unto Rehob, H7340 as men come H935 to Hamath. H2574 And they ascended H5927 by the south, H5045 and came H935 unto Hebron; H2275 where Ahiman, H289 Sheshai, H8344 and Talmai, H8526 the children H3211 of Anak, H6061 were. (Now Hebron H2275 was built H1129 seven H7651 years H8141 before H6440 Zoan H6814 in Egypt.) H4714
The Amalekites H6002 dwell H3427 in the land H776 of the south: H5045 and the Hittites, H2850 and the Jebusites, H2983 and the Amorites, H567 dwell H3427 in the mountains: H2022 and the Canaanites H3669 dwell H3427 by the sea, H3220 and by the coast H3027 of Jordan. H3383
And the Amorites, H567 which dwelt H3427 in that mountain, H2022 came out H3318 against H7125 you, and chased H7291 you, as bees H1682 do, H6213 and destroyed H3807 you in Seir, H8165 even unto Hormah. H2767
And it went out H3318 to the south side H5045 to Maalehacrabbim, H4610 and passed H5674 along to Zin, H6790 and ascended up H5927 on the south side H5045 unto Kadeshbarnea, H6947 and passed H5674 along to Hezron, H2696 and went up H5927 to Adar, H146 and fetched a compass H5437 to Karkaa: H7173

Commentary on Numbers 13 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 13
It is a memorable and very melancholy story which is related in this and the following chapter, of the turning back of Israel from the borders of Canaan, when they were just ready to set foot in it, and the sentencing of them to wander and perish in the wilderness for their unbelief and murmuring. It is referred to Ps. 95:7, etc., and improved for warning to Christians, Heb. 3:7, etc. In this chapter we have,
Num 13:1-20
Here we have,
Num 13:21-25
We have here a short account of the survey which the spies made of the promised land.
Num 13:26-33
It is a wonder how the people of Israel had patience to stay forty days for the return of their spies, when they were just ready to enter Canaan, under all the assurances of success they could have from the divine power, and a constant series of miracles that had hitherto attended them; but they distrusted God's power and promise, and were willing to be held in suspense by their own counsels, rather than be brought to a certainty by God's covenant. How much do we stand in our own light by our unbelief! Well, at length the messengers return, but they agree not in their report.
