5 All the days H3117 of the vow H5088 of his separation H5145 there shall no razor H8593 come H5674 upon his head: H7218 until the days H3117 be fulfilled, H4390 in the which he separateth H5144 himself unto the LORD, H3068 he shall be holy, H6918 and shall let the locks H6545 of the hair H8181 of his head H7218 grow. H1431
And she vowed H5087 a vow, H5088 and said, H559 O LORD H3068 of hosts, H6635 if thou wilt indeed H7200 look H7200 on the affliction H6040 of thine handmaid, H519 and remember H2142 me, and not forget H7911 thine handmaid, H519 but wilt give H5414 unto thine handmaid H519 a man H582 child, H2233 then I will give H5414 him unto the LORD H3068 all the days H3117 of his life, H2416 and there shall no razor H4177 come H5927 upon his head. H7218
For, lo, thou shalt conceive, H2030 and bear H3205 a son; H1121 and no razor H4177 shall come H5927 on his head: H7218 for the child H5288 shall be a Nazarite H5139 unto God H430 from the womb: H990 and he shall begin H2490 to deliver H3467 Israel H3478 out of the hand H3027 of the Philistines. H6430
That he told H5046 her all his heart, H3820 and said H559 unto her, There hath not come H5927 a razor H4177 upon mine head; H7218 for I have been a Nazarite H5139 unto God H430 from my mother's H517 womb: H990 if I be shaven, H1548 then my strength H3581 will go H5493 from me, and I shall become weak, H2470 and be like any other man. H120
And she made him sleep H3462 upon her knees; H1290 and she called H7121 for a man, H376 and she caused him to shave off H1548 the seven H7651 locks H4253 of his head; H7218 and she began H2490 to afflict H6031 him, and his strength H3581 went H5493 from him.
Her Nazarites H5139 were purer H2141 than snow, H7950 they were whiter H6705 than milk, H2461 they were more ruddy H119 in body H6106 than rubies, H6443 their polishing H1508 was of sapphire: H5601 Their visage H8389 is blacker H2821 than a coal; H7815 they are not known H5234 in the streets: H2351 their skin H5785 cleaveth H6821 to their bones; H6106 it is withered, H3001 it is become like a stick. H6086
For this G5124 cause G1223 ought G3784 the woman G1135 to have G2192 power G1849 on G1909 her head G2776 because G1223 of the angels. G32 Nevertheless G4133 neither G3777 is the man G435 without G5565 the woman, G1135 neither G3777 the woman G1135 without G5565 the man, G435 in G1722 the Lord. G2962 For G1063 as G5618 the woman G1135 is of G1537 the man, G435 even so G3779 is the man G435 also G2532 by G1223 the woman; G1135 but G1161 all things G3956 of G1537 God. G2316 Judge G2919 in G1722 yourselves: G5213 G846 is it G2076 comely G4241 that a woman G1135 pray G4336 unto God G2316 uncovered? G177 Doth G2228 not even G3761 nature G5449 itself G846 teach G1321 you, G5209 that, G3754 if G1437 G3303 a man G435 have long hair, G2863 it is G2076 a shame G819 unto him? G846 But G1161 if G1437 a woman G1135 have long hair, G2863 it is G2076 a glory G1391 to her: G846 for G3754 her hair G2864 is given G1325 her G846 for G473 a covering. G4018

Commentary on Numbers 6 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 6
In this chapter we have,
Num 6:1-21
After the law for the discovery and shame of those that by sin had made themselves vile, fitly follows this for the direction and encouragement of those who by their eminent piety and devotion had made themselves honourable, and distinguished themselves from their neighbours. It is very probable that there were those before the making of this law who went under the character of Nazarites, and were celebrated by that title as persons professing greater strictness and zeal in religion than other people; for the vow of a Nazarite is spoken of here as a thing already well known, but the obligation of it is reduced to a greater certainty than hitherto it had been. Joseph is called a Nazarite among his brethren (Gen. 49:26), not only because separate from them, but because eminent among them. Observe,
