24 Marcus, G3138 Aristarchus, G708 Demas, G1214 Lucas, G3065 my G3450 fellowlabourers. G4904
Luke, G3065 the beloved G27 physician, G2395 and G2532 Demas, G1214 greet G782 you. G5209
Aristarchus G708 my G3450 fellowprisoner G4869 saluteth G782 you, G5209 and G2532 Marcus, G3138 sister's son G431 to Barnabas, G921 (touching G4012 whom G3739 ye received G2983 commandments: G1785 if G1437 he come G2064 unto G4314 you, G5209 receive G1209 him;) G846
For G1063 Demas G1214 hath forsaken G1459 me, having loved G25 this present G3568 world, G165 and G2532 is departed G4198 unto G1519 Thessalonica; G2332 Crescens G2913 to G1519 Galatia, G1053 Titus G5103 unto G1519 Dalmatia. G1149 Only G3441 Luke G3065 is G2076 with G3326 me. G1700 Take G353 Mark, G3138 and bring him G71 with G3326 thee: G4572 for G1063 he is G2076 profitable G2173 to me G3427 for G1519 the ministry. G1248
And G5037 when he had considered G4894 the thing, he came G2064 to G1909 the house G3614 of Mary G3137 the mother G3384 of John, G2491 whose surname was G1941 Mark; G3138 where G3757 many G2425 were G2258 gathered together G4867 praying. G2532 G4336
And G1161 Barnabas G921 determined G1011 to take with them G4838 John, G2491 whose surname was G2564 Mark. G3138 But G1161 Paul G3972 thought G515 not G3361 good G515 to take G4838 him G5126 with them, G4838 who G3588 departed G868 from G575 them G846 from G575 Pamphylia, G3828 and G2532 went G4905 not G3361 with them G846 to G1519 the work. G2041 And G3767 the contention G3948 was G1096 so sharp G3948 between them, G846 that G5620 they departed asunder G673 one from the other: G575 G240 and so G5037 Barnabas G921 took G3880 Mark, G3138 and sailed G1602 unto G1519 Cyprus; G2954
And G1161 entering G1910 into a ship G4143 of Adramyttium, G98 we launched, G321 meaning G3195 to sail G4126 by G2596 the coasts G5117 of Asia; G773 one Aristarchus, G708 a Macedonian G3110 of Thessalonica, G2331 being G5607 with G4862 us. G2254
Paul, G3972 a prisoner G1198 of Jesus G2424 Christ, G5547 and G2532 Timothy G5095 our brother, G80 unto Philemon G5371 our G2257 dearly beloved, G27 and G2532 fellowlabourer, G4904 And G2532 to our beloved G27 Apphia, G682 and G2532 Archippus G751 our G2257 fellowsoldier, G4961 and G2532 to the church G1577 in G2596 thy G4675 house: G3624
Now G1161 when Paul G3972 and his company G4012 loosed G321 from G575 Paphos, G3974 they came G2064 to G1519 Perga G4011 in Pamphylia: G3828 and G1161 John G2491 departing G672 from G575 them G846 returned G5290 to G1519 Jerusalem. G2414
Whether G1535 any do enquire of G5228 Titus, G5103 he is my G1699 partner G2844 and G2532 fellowhelper G4904 concerning G1519 you: G5209 or G1535 our G2257 brethren G80 be enquired of, they are the messengers G652 of the churches, G1577 and the glory G1391 of Christ. G5547
Yet G1161 I supposed G2233 it necessary G316 to send G3992 to G4314 you G5209 Epaphroditus, G1891 my G3450 brother, G80 and G2532 companion in labour, G4904 and G2532 fellowsoldier, G4961 but G1161 your G5216 messenger, G652 and G2532 he that ministered G3011 to my G3450 wants. G5532
And G2532 I intreat G2065 thee G4571 also, G2532 true G1103 yokefellow, G4805 help G4815 those women G846 which G3748 laboured G4866 with me G3427 in G1722 the gospel, G2098 with G3326 Clement G2815 also, G2532 and G2532 with other G3062 my G3450 fellowlabourers, G4904 whose G3739 names G3686 are in G1722 the book G976 of life. Commentary on Philemon 1 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 1
In this epistle we have,
Phm 1:1-7
Phm 1:8-25
We have here,
Amen is added, not only for strong and affectionate summing up the prayer and wish, so let it be; but as an expression of faith that it will be heard, so shall it be. And what need we more to make us happy than to have the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ with our spirit? This is the usual benediction, but it may be taken here to have some special respect also to the occasion; the grace of Christ with their spirits, Philemon's especially, would sweeten and mollify them, take off too deep and keen resentments of injuries, and dispose to forgive others as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven us.
