20 For G1063 I have G2192 no man G3762 likeminded, G2473 who G3748 will naturally G1104 care G3309 for your G5216 state. G4012
Now G1161 if G1437 Timotheus G5095 come, G2064 see G991 that G2443 he may be G1096 with G4314 you G5209 without fear: G870 for G1063 he worketh G2038 the work G2041 of the Lord, G2962 as G5613 I G1473 also G2532 do.
Then Jonathan H3083 and David H1732 made H3772 a covenant, H1285 because he loved H160 him as his own soul. H5315
But it was thou, a man H582 mine equal, H6187 my guide, H441 and mine acquaintance. H3045
G1161 The hireling G3411 fleeth, G5343 because G3754 he is G2076 an hireling, G3411 and G2532 careth G3199 not G3756 for G4012 the sheep. G4263
G1161 This G5124 he said, G2036 not G3756 that G3754 he G846 cared G3199 for G4012 the poor; G4434 but G235 because G3754 he was G2258 a thief, G2812 and G2532 had G2192 the bag, G1101 and G2532 bare G941 what was put therein. G906
Now G1161 I beseech G3870 you, G5209 brethren, G80 by G1223 the name G3686 of our G2257 Lord G2962 Jesus G2424 Christ, G5547 that G2443 ye G3004 all G3956 speak G3004 the same thing, G846 and G2532 that there be G5600 no G3361 divisions G4978 among G1722 you; G5213 but G1161 that ye be G5600 perfectly joined together G2675 in G1722 the same G846 mind G3563 and G2532 in G1722 the same G846 judgment. G1106 For G1063 it hath been declared G1213 unto me G3427 of G4012 you, G5216 my G3450 brethren, G80 by G5259 them which are of the house G3588 of Chloe, G5514 that G3754 there are G1526 contentions G2054 among G1722 you. G5213
But G1161 ye know G1097 the proof G1382 of him, G846 that, G3754 as G5613 a son G5043 with the father, G3962 he hath served G1398 with G4862 me G1698 in G1519 the gospel. G2098
When I call G2983 to remembrance G5280 the unfeigned G505 faith G4102 that is in G1722 thee, G4671 which G3748 dwelt G1774 first G4412 in G1722 thy G4675 grandmother G3125 Lois, G3090 and G2532 thy G4675 mother G3384 Eunice; G2131 and G1161 I am persuaded G3982 that G3754 in G1722 thee G4671 also. Commentary on Philippians 2 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 2
The apostle proceeds to further exhortations to several duties, to be like-minded, and lowly-minded, which he presses from the example of Christ (v. 1-11), to be diligent and serious in the Christian course (v. 12, 13), and to adorn their Christian profession by several suitable graces (v. 14-18). He then concludes with particular notice and commendation of two good ministers, Timothy and Epaphroditus, whom he designed to send to them (v. 19-30).
Phl 2:1-11
The apostle proceeds in this chapter where he left off in the last, with further exhortations to Christian duties. He presses them largely to like-mindedness and lowly-mindedness, in conformity to the example of the Lord Jesus, the great pattern of humility and love. Here we may observe,
Phl 2:12-13
Phl 2:14-18
The apostle exhorts them in these verses to adorn their Christian profession by a suitable temper and behaviour, in several instances.
Phl 2:19-30
Paul takes particular notice of two good ministers; for though he was himself a great apostle, and laboured more abundantly than they all, yet he took all occasions to speak with respect of those who were far his inferiors.
