9 Give H5414 instruction to a wise H2450 man, and he will be yet wiser: H2449 teach H3045 a just H6662 man, and he will increase H3254 in learning. H3948
A wise H2450 man will hear, H8085 and will increase H3254 learning; H3948 and a man of understanding H995 shall attain H7069 unto wise counsels: H8458
He answered G611 and G1161 said G2036 unto them, G846 Because G3754 it is given G1325 unto you G5213 to know G1097 the mysteries G3466 of the kingdom G932 of heaven, G3772 but G1161 to them G1565 it is G1325 not G3756 given. G1325 For G1063 whosoever G3748 hath, G2192 to him G846 shall be given, G1325 and G2532 he shall have more abundance: G4052 but G1161 whosoever G3748 hath G2192 not, G3756 from G575 him G846 shall be taken away G142 even G2532 that G3739 he hath. G2192
Then shall we know, H3045 if we follow H7291 on to know H3045 the LORD: H3068 his going forth H4161 is prepared H3559 as the morning; H7837 and he shall come H935 unto us as the rain, H1653 as the latter H4456 and former rain H3384 unto the earth. H776
But G1161 grow G837 in G1722 grace, G5485 and G2532 in the knowledge G1108 of our G2257 Lord G2962 and G2532 Saviour G4990 Jesus G2424 Christ. G5547 To him G846 be glory G1391 both G2532 now G3568 and G2532 for G1519 ever. G165 G2250 Amen. G281
But G2532 ye G5210 have G2192 an unction G5545 from G575 the Holy One, G40 and G2532 ye know G1492 all things. G3956 I have G1125 not G3756 written G1125 unto you G5213 because G3754 ye know G1492 not G3756 the truth, G225 but G235 because G3754 ye know G1492 it, G846 and G2532 that G3754 no G3956 G3756 lie G5579 is G2076 of G1537 the truth. G225
These things G5023 have I written G1125 unto you G5213 that believe G4100 on G1519 the name G3686 of the Son G5207 of God; G2316 that G2443 ye may know G1492 that ye G3754 have G2192 eternal G166 life, G2222 and G2532 that G2443 ye may believe G4100 on G1519 the name G3686 of the Son G5207 of God. Commentary on Proverbs 9 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 9
Christ and sin are rivals for the soul of man, and here we are told how they both make their court to it, to have the innermost and uppermost place in it. Now observe,
