1 [[To the chief Musician H5329 upon Shoshannim, H7799 for the sons H1121 of Korah, H7141 Maschil, H4905 A Song H7892 of loves.]] H3039 My heart H3820 is inditing H7370 a good H2896 matter: H1697 I speak H559 of the things which I have made H4639 touching the king: H4428 my tongue H3956 is the pen H5842 of a ready H4106 writer. H5608
The Spirit H7307 of the LORD H3068 spake H1696 by me, and his word H4405 was in my tongue. H3956
My words H561 shall be of the uprightness H3476 of my heart: H3820 and my lips H8193 shall utter H4448 knowledge H1847 clearly. H1305
This Ezra H5830 went up H5927 from Babylon; H894 and he was a ready H4106 scribe H5608 in the law H8451 of Moses, H4872 which the LORD H3068 God H430 of Israel H3478 had given: H5414 and the king H4428 granted H5414 him all his request, H1246 according to the hand H3027 of the LORD H3068 his God H430 upon him.
Behold, a king H4428 shall reign H4427 in righteousness, H6664 and princes H8269 shall rule H8323 in judgment. H4941 And a man H376 shall be as an hiding place H4224 from the wind, H7307 and a covert H5643 from the tempest; H2230 as rivers H6388 of water H4325 in a dry place, H6724 as the shadow H6738 of a great H3515 rock H5553 in a weary H5889 land. H776
For G1063 the prophecy G4394 came G5342 not G3756 in old time G4218 by the will G2307 of man: G444 but G235 holy G40 men G444 of God G2316 spake G2980 as they were moved G5342 by G5259 the Holy G40 Ghost. G4151
Then G5119 shall the King G935 say G2046 unto them on G1537 his G846 right hand, G1188 Come, G1205 ye blessed G2127 of my G3450 Father, G3962 inherit G2816 the kingdom G932 prepared G2090 for you G5213 from G575 the foundation G2602 of the world: G2889
The song H7892 of songs, H7892 which is Solomon's. H8010 Let him kiss H5401 me with the kisses H5390 of his mouth: H6310 for thy love H1730 is better H2896 than wine. H3196 Because of the savour H7381 of thy good H2896 ointments H8081 thy name H8034 is as ointment H8081 poured forth, H7324 therefore do the virgins H5959 love H157 thee. Draw H4900 me, we will run H7323 after H310 thee: the king H4428 hath brought H935 me into his chambers: H2315 we will be glad H1523 and rejoice H8055 in thee, we will remember H2142 thy love H1730 more than wine: H3196 the upright H4339 love H157 thee. I am black, H7838 but comely, H5000 O ye daughters H1323 of Jerusalem, H3389 as the tents H168 of Kedar, H6938 as the curtains H3407 of Solomon. H8010 Look H7200 not upon me, because I am black, H7840 because the sun H8121 hath looked H7805 upon me: my mother's H517 children H1121 were angry H2787 with me; they made H7760 me the keeper H5201 of the vineyards; H3754 but mine own vineyard H3754 have I not kept. H5201 Tell H5046 me, O thou whom my soul H5315 loveth, H157 where thou feedest, H7462 where H349 thou makest thy flock to rest H7257 at noon: H6672 for H4100 why should I be as one that turneth aside H5844 by the flocks H5739 of thy companions? H2270
The heart H3820 of the wise H2450 teacheth H7919 his mouth, H6310 and addeth H3254 learning H3948 to his lips. H8193
Hear; H8085 for I will speak H1696 of excellent things; H5057 and the opening H4669 of my lips H8193 shall be right things. H4339 For my mouth H2441 shall speak H1897 truth; H571 and wickedness H7562 is an abomination H8441 to my lips. H8193 All the words H561 of my mouth H6310 are in righteousness; H6664 there is nothing froward H6617 or perverse H6141 in them. They are all plain H5228 to him that understandeth, H995 and right H3477 to them that find H4672 knowledge. H1847
[[To the chief Musician H5329 upon Shoshannim, H7799 A Psalm of David.]] H1732 Save H3467 me, O God; H430 for the waters H4325 are come H935 in unto my soul. H5315
Lift up H5375 your heads, H7218 O ye gates; H8179 and be ye lift up, H5375 ye everlasting H5769 doors; H6607 and the King H4428 of glory H3519 shall come in. H935 Who is this King H4428 of glory? H3519 The LORD H3068 strong H5808 and mighty, H1368 the LORD H3068 mighty H1368 in battle. H4421 Lift up H5375 your heads, H7218 O ye gates; H8179 even lift them up, H5375 ye everlasting H5769 doors; H6607 and the King H4428 of glory H3519 shall come in. H935 Who is this King H4428 of glory? H3519 The LORD H3068 of hosts, H6635 he is the King H4428 of glory. H3519 Selah. H5542
Let us choose H977 to us judgment: H4941 let us know H3045 among ourselves what is good. H2896
For I am full H4390 of matter, H4405 the spirit H7307 within H990 me constraineth H6693 me. Behold, my belly H990 is as wine H3196 which hath no vent; H6605 it is ready to burst H1234 like new H2319 bottles. H178 I will speak, H1696 that I may be refreshed: H7304 I will open H6605 my lips H8193 and answer. H6030
[[A Psalm H4210 of David.]] H1732 The LORD H3068 said H5002 unto my Lord, H113 Sit H3427 thou at my right hand, H3225 until I make H7896 thine enemies H341 thy footstool. H1916 H7272 The LORD H3068 shall send H7971 the rod H4294 of thy strength H5797 out of Zion: H6726 rule H7287 thou in the midst H7130 of thine enemies. H341

Commentary on Psalms 45 Matthew Henry Commentary
Psalm 45
This psalm is an illustrious prophecy of Messiah the Prince: it is all over gospel, and points at him only, as a bridegroom espousing the church to himself and as a king ruling in it and ruling for it. It is probable that our Saviour has reference to this psalm when he compares the kingdom of heaven, more than once, to a nuptial solemnity, the solemnity of a royal nuptial, Mt. 22:2; 25:1. We have no reason to think it has any reference to Solomon's marriage with Pharaoh's daughter; if I thought that it had reference to any other than the mystical marriage between Christ and his church, I would rather apply it to some of David's marriages, because he was a man of war, such a one as the bridegroom here is described to be, which Solomon was not. But I take it to be purely and only meant of Jesus Christ; of him speaks the prophet this, of him and of no other man; and to him (v. 6, 7) it is applied in the New Testament (Heb. 1:8), nor can it be understood of any other. The preface speaks the excellency of the song (v. 1). The psalm speaks,
In singing this psalm our hearts must be filled with high thoughts of Christ, with an entire submission to and satisfaction in his government, and with an earnest desire of the enlarging and perpetuating of his church in the world.
To the chief musician upon Shoshannim, for the sons of Korah, Maschil. A song of loves.
Psa 45:1-5
Some make Shoshannim, in the title, to signify an instrument of six strings; others take it in its primitive signification for lilies or roses, which probably were strewed, with other flowers, at nuptial solemnities; and then it is easily applicable to Christ who calls himself the rose of Sharon and the lily of the valleys, Cant. 2:1. It is a song of loves, concerning the holy love that is between Christ and his church. It is a song of the well-beloved, the virgins, the companions of the bride (v. 14), prepared to be sung by them. The virgin-company that attend the Lamb on Mount Zion are said to sing a new song, Rev. 14:3, 4.
Psa 45:6-9
We have here the royal bridegroom filling his throne with judgment and keeping his court with splendour.
Psa 45:10-17
This latter part of the psalm is addressed to the royal bride, standing on the right hand of the royal bridegroom. God, who said to the Son, Thy throne is for ever and ever, says this to the church, which, upon the account of her espousals to the Son, he here calls his daughter.
