5 And G2532 she brought forth G5088 a man G730 child, G5207 who G3739 was G3195 to rule G4165 all G3956 nations G1484 with G1722 a rod G4464 of iron: G4603 and G2532 her G846 child G5043 was caught up G726 unto G4314 God, G2316 and G2532 to his G846 throne. G2362
And G2532 he that overcometh, G3528 and G2532 keepeth G5083 my G3450 works G2041 unto G891 the end, G5056 to him G846 will I give G1325 power G1849 over G1909 the nations: G1484 And G2532 he shall rule G4165 them G846 with G1722 a rod G4464 of iron; G4603 as G5613 the vessels G4632 of a potter G2764 shall they be broken to shivers: G4937 even G2504 as G5613 I G2504 received G2983 of G3844 my G3450 Father. G3962
And G2532 out of G1537 his G846 mouth G4750 goeth G1607 a sharp G3691 sword, G4501 that G2443 with G1722 it G846 he should smite G3960 the nations: G1484 and G2532 he G846 shall rule G4165 them G846 with G1722 a rod G4464 of iron: G4603 and G2532 he G846 treadeth G3961 the winepress G3025 G3631 of the fierceness G2372 and G2532 wrath G3709 of Almighty G3841 God. G2316
Therefore will he give them up, H5414 until the time H6256 that she which travaileth H3205 hath brought forth: H3205 then the remnant H3499 of his brethren H251 shall return H7725 unto the children H1121 of Israel. H3478
Therefore the Lord H136 himself shall give H5414 you a sign; H226 Behold, a virgin H5959 shall conceive, H2030 and bear H3205 a son, H1121 and shall call H7121 his name H8034 Immanuel. H410 H6005
So G3303 then G3767 after G3326 the Lord G2962 had spoken G2980 unto them, G846 he was received up G353 into G1519 heaven, G3772 and G2532 sat G2523 on G1537 the right hand G1188 of God. G2316
I knew G1492 a man G444 in G1722 Christ G5547 above G4253 fourteen G1180 years G2094 ago, G4253 (whether G1535 in G1722 the body, G4983 I cannot G3756 tell; G1492 or whether G1535 out G1622 of the body, G4983 I cannot G3756 tell: G1492 God G2316 knoweth;) G1492 such an one G5108 caught up G726 to G2193 the third G5154 heaven. Commentary on Revelation 12 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 12
It is generally agreed by the most learned expositors that the narrative we have in this and the two following chapters, from the sounding of the seventh trumpet to the opening of the vials, is not a prediction of things to come, but rather a recapitulation and representation of things past, which, as God would have the apostle to foresee while future, he would have him to review now that they were past, that he might have a more perfect idea of them in his mind, and might observe the agreement between the prophecy and that Providence that is always fulfilling the scriptures. In this chapter we have an account of the contest between the church and antichrist, the seed of the woman and the seed of the serpent.
Rev 12:1-11
Here we see that early prophecy eminently fulfilled in which God said he would put enmity between the seed of the woman and the seed of the serpent, Gen. 3:15. You will observe,
Rev 12:12-17
We have here an account of this war, so happily finished in heaven, or in the church, as it was again renewed and carried on in the wilderness, the place to which the church had fled, and where she had been for some time secured by the special care of her God and Saviour. Observe,
