3 And G1161 thinkest thou G3049 this, G5124 O G5599 man, G444 that judgest G2919 them which do G4238 such things, G5108 and G2532 doest G4160 the same, G846 that G3754 thou G4771 shalt escape G1628 the judgment G2917 of God? G2316
And G1161 he said G2036 unto him, G846 Man, G444 who G5101 made G2525 me G3165 a judge G1348 or G2228 a divider G3312 over G1909 you? G5209
Ye serpents, G3789 ye generation G1081 of vipers, G2191 how G4459 can ye G5343 escape G575 the damnation G2920 of hell? G1067
See G991 that ye refuse G3868 not G3361 him that speaketh. G2980 For G1063 if G1487 they G1565 escaped G5343 not G3756 who refused him G3868 that spake G5537 on G1909 earth, G1093 much G4183 more G3123 shall not we G2249 escape, if we turn away from him G654 that speaketh from G575 heaven: G3772
How G4459 shall we G2249 escape, G1628 if we neglect G272 so great G5082 salvation; G4991 which G3748 at the first G746 began G2983 to be spoken G2980 by G1223 the Lord, G2962 and was confirmed G950 unto G1519 us G2248 by G5259 them that heard G191 him;
And G2532 after G3326 a little while G1024 another G2087 saw G1492 him, G846 and said, G5346 Thou G4771 art G1488 also G2532 of G1537 them. G846 And G1161 Peter G4074 said, G2036 Man, G444 I am G1510 not. G3756
G2228 Thinkest thou G1380 that G3754 I cannot G3756 G1410 now G737 pray G3870 to my G3450 Father, G3962 and G2532 he shall presently give G3936 me G3427 more G4119 than G2228 twelve G1427 legions G3003 of angels? G32
And the princes H8269 of the children H1121 of Ammon H5983 said H559 unto Hanun H2586 their lord, H113 Thinkest H5869 thou that David H1732 doth honour H3513 thy father, H1 that he hath sent H7971 comforters H5162 unto thee? hath not David H1732 rather sent H7971 his servants H5650 unto thee, to H5668 search H2713 the city, H5892 and to spy it out, H7270 and to overthrow H2015 it?
And said, H559 O man H376 greatly beloved, H2532 fear H3372 not: peace H7965 be unto thee, be strong, H2388 yea, be strong. H2388 And when he had spoken H1696 unto me, I was strengthened, H2388 and said, H559 Let my lord H113 speak; H1696 for thou hast strengthened H2388 me.
Seeing he despised H959 the oath H423 by breaking H6565 the covenant, H1285 when, lo, he had given H5414 his hand, H3027 and hath done H6213 all these things, he shall not escape. H4422
But he rebelled H4775 against him in sending H7971 his ambassadors H4397 into Egypt, H4714 that they might give H5414 him horses H5483 and much H7227 people. H5971 Shall he prosper? H6743 shall he escape H4422 that doeth H6213 such things? or shall he break H6565 the covenant, H1285 and be delivered? H4422
Every one that is proud H1362 in heart H3820 is an abomination H8441 to the LORD: H3068 though hand H3027 join in hand, H3027 he shall not be unpunished. H5352

Commentary on Romans 2 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 2
The scope of the first two chapters of this epistle may be gathered from ch. 3:9, "We have before proved both Jews and Gentiles that they are all under sin.' This we have proved upon the Gentiles (ch. 1), now in this chapter he proves it upon the Jews, as appears by v. 17, "thou art called a Jew.'
Rom 2:1-16
In the former chapter the apostle had represented the state of the Gentile world to be as bad and black as the Jews were ready enough to pronounce it. And now, designing to show that the state of the Jews was very bad too, and their sin in many respects more aggravated, to prepare his way he sets himself in this part of the chapter to show that God would proceed upon equal terms of justice with Jews and Gentiles; and now with such a partial hand as the Jews were apt to think he would use in their favour.
Rom 2:17-29
In the latter part of the chapter the apostle directs his discourse more closely to the Jews, and shows what sins they were guilty of, notwithstanding their profession and vain pretensions. He had said (v. 13) that not the hearers but the doers of the law are justified; and he here applies that great truth to the Jews. Observe,
