8 But he forsook the counsel of the old men which they had given him, and took counsel with the young men who had grown up with him, who stood before him.
Absalom and all the men of Israel said, The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel. For Yahweh had ordained to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that Yahweh might bring evil on Absalom.
Therefore the anger of Yahweh was kindled against Amaziah, and he sent to him a prophet, who said to him, Why have you sought after the gods of the people, which have not delivered their own people out of your hand? It happened, as he talked with him, that [the king] said to him, Have we made you of the king's counsel? Stop! Why should you be struck down? Then the prophet stopped, and said, I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this, and have not listened to my counsel.

One who walks with wise men grows wise, But a companion of fools suffers harm.
As an ear-ring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, So is a wise reprover to an obedient ear.
A wise man's heart is at his right hand, but a fool's heart at his left. Yes also, when the fool walks by the way, his understanding fails him, and he says to everyone that he is a fool.
