10 Where is your king now, that he may save you in all your cities? And your judges, of whom you said, 'Give me a king and princes?'
They have set up kings, but not by me. They have made princes, and I didn't approve. Of their silver and their gold they have made themselves idols, That they may be cut off.
and they said to him, Behold, you are old, and your sons don't walk in your ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations. But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. Samuel prayed to Yahweh.
Let Israel rejoice in him who made them. Let the children of Zion be joyful in their King.
Nathanael answered him, "Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are King of Israel!"
"Yet I am Yahweh your God from the land of Egypt; And you will know no god but me, And besides me there is no savior.
Behold, the voice of the cry of the daughter of my people from a land that is very far off: isn't Yahweh in Zion? Isn't her King in her? Why have they provoked me to anger with their engraved images, and with foreign vanities?
I am Yahweh, your Holy One, the Creator of Israel, your King.
For Yahweh is our judge, Yahweh is our lawgiver, Yahweh is our king; he will save us.
He will say, Where are their gods, The rock in which they took refuge; Which ate the fat of their sacrifices, And drank the wine of their drink-offering? Let them rise up and help you, Let them be your protection. When you saw that Nahash the king of the children of Ammon came against you, you said to me, No, but a king shall reign over us; when Yahweh your God was your king.
Yahweh raised up judges, who saved them out of the hand of those who despoiled them. Yet they didn't listen to their judges; for they played the prostitute after other gods, and bowed themselves down to them: they turned aside quickly out of the way in which their fathers walked, obeying the commandments of Yahweh; [but] they didn't do so. When Yahweh raised them up judges, then Yahweh was with the judge, and saved them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge: for it repented Yahweh because of their groaning by reason of those who oppressed them and vexed them.
