15 If I am wicked, woe to me. If I am righteous, I still shall not lift up my head, Being filled with disgrace, And conscious of my affliction.
Woe to the wicked! Disaster is upon them; For the deeds of his hands will be paid back to him.
Whom, though I were righteous, yet would I not answer. I would make supplication to my judge.
Although you know that I am not wicked, There is no one who can deliver out of your hand.
Though I am righteous, my own mouth shall condemn me. Though I am blameless, it shall prove me perverse. I am blameless. I don't regard myself. I despise my life.
but to those who are self-seeking, and don't obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, will be wrath and indignation, oppression and anguish, on every soul of man who works evil, on the Jew first, and also on the Greek.
Even so you also, when you have done all the things that are commanded you, say, 'We are unworthy servants. We have done our duty.'"
Remember, Yahweh, what has come on us: Look, and see our reproach. Our inheritance is turned to strangers, Our houses to aliens. We are orphans and fatherless; Our mothers are as widows. We have drunken our water for money; Our wood is sold to us. Our pursuers are on our necks: We are weary, and have no rest. We have given the hand to the Egyptians, To the Assyrians, to be satisfied with bread. Our fathers sinned, and are no more; We have borne their iniquities. Servants rule over us: There is none to deliver us out of their hand. We get our bread at the peril of our lives, Because of the sword of the wilderness. Our skin is black like an oven, Because of the burning heat of famine. They ravished the women in Zion, The virgins in the cities of Judah. Princes were hanged up by their hand: The faces of elders were not honored. The young men bare the mill; The children stumbled under the wood. The elders have ceased from the gate, The young men from their music. The joy of our heart is ceased; Our dance is turned into mourning. The crown is fallen from our head: Woe to us! for we have sinned. For this our heart is faint; For these things our eyes are dim; For the mountain of Zion, which is desolate: The foxes walk on it. You, Yahweh, abide forever; Your throne is from generation to generation. Why do you forget us forever, [And] forsake us so long time? Turn you us to you, Yahweh, and we shall be turned; Renew our days as of old. But you have utterly rejected us; You are very angry against us.
Yahweh said, "I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows.
You meet him who rejoices and works righteousness, those who remember you in your ways: behold, you were angry, and we sinned: in them [have we been] of long time; and shall we be saved? For we are all become as one who is unclean, and all our righteousness are as a polluted garment: and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.
Then I said, "Woe is me! For I am undone, because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for my eyes have seen the King, Yahweh of Hosts!"
Consider my affliction, and deliver me, For I don't forget your law.
