4 For no one does anything in secret, and himself seeks to be known openly. If you do these things, reveal yourself to the world."
Jesus answered him, "I spoke openly to the world. I always taught in synagogues, and in the temple, where the Jews always meet. I said nothing in secret.
An unfriendly man pursues selfishness, And defies all sound judgment. A fool has no delight in understanding, But only in revealing his own opinion.
But all their works they do to be seen by men. They make their phylacteries broad, enlarge the fringes of their garments,
The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings out that which is good, and the evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings out that which is evil, for out of the abundance of the heart, his mouth speaks.
"Be careful that you don't do your charitable giving before men, to be seen by them, or else you have no reward from your Father who is in heaven. Therefore when you do merciful deeds, don't sound a trumpet before yourself, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may get glory from men.
