33 But Peter answered him, "Even if all will be made to stumble because of you, I will never be made to stumble."
He said to him, "Lord, I am ready to go with you both to prison and to death!"
My steps have held fast to your paths, My feet have not slipped.
Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall. It is better to be of a lowly spirit with the poor, Than to divide the plunder with the proud.
Many men claim to be men of unfailing love, But who can find a faithful man?
The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly corrupt: who can know it?
But Peter said to him, "Although all will be offended, yet I will not."
Simon Peter said to him, "Lord, where are you going?" Jesus answered, "Where I am going, you can't follow now, but you will follow afterwards." Peter said to him, "Lord, why can't I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you." Jesus answered him, "Will you lay down your life for me? Most assuredly I tell you, the rooster won't crow until you have denied me three times.
So when they had eaten their breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love me more than these?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord; you know that I have affection for you." He said to him, "Feed my lambs."
In love of the brothers be tenderly affectionate one to another; in honor preferring one another;
Likewise, you younger ones, be subject to the elder. Yes, all of you gird yourselves with humility, to subject yourselves to one another; for "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble." Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time;
