9 The light of the righteous shines brightly, But the lamp of the wicked is snuffed out.
But the path of the righteous is like the dawning light, That shines more and more until the perfect day.
For there will be no reward to the evil man; And the lamp of the wicked shall be snuffed out.
"Yes, the light of the wicked shall be put out, The spark of his fire shall not shine. The light shall be dark in his tent, His lamp above him shall be put out.
"How often is it that the lamp of the wicked is put out? That their calamity comes on them? That God distributes sorrows in his anger?
Light is sown for the righteous, And gladness for the upright in heart.
Light dawns in the darkness for the upright, Gracious, merciful, and righteous.
Who is among you who fears Yahweh, who obeys the voice of his servant? He who walks in darkness, and has no light, let him trust in the name of Yahweh, and rely on his God. Behold, all you who kindle a fire, who gird yourselves about with firebrands; walk you in the flame of your fire, and among the brands that you have kindled. This shall you have of my hand; you shall lie down in sorrow.
Then the king said to the servants, 'Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and throw him into the outer darkness; there is where the weeping and grinding of teeth will be.'
