1 I love Yahweh, because he listens to my voice, And my cries for mercy.

As for me, I said in my haste, "I am cut off from before your eyes." Nevertheless you heard the voice of my petitions when I cried to you. Oh love Yahweh, all you his saints! Yahweh preserves the faithful, And pays back him who deals proudly in full.
Oh magnify Yahweh with me. Let us exalt his name together. I sought Yahweh, and he answered me, And delivered me from all my fears.
For Yahweh hears the needy, And doesn't despise his captive people.
Turn to me, and have mercy on me, As you always do to those who love your name.
Until now, you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be made full.

Psalm 116
This is a thanksgiving psalm; it is not certain whether David penned it upon any particular occasion or upon a general review of the many gracious deliverances God had wrought for him, out of six troubles and seven, which deliverances draw from him many very lively expressions of devotion, love, and gratitude; and with similar pious affections our souls should be lifted up to God in singing it. Observe,
