9 They had breastplates, like breastplates of iron. The sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots, or of many horses rushing to war.
As often as the trumpet sounds he snorts, 'Aha!' He smells the battle afar off, The thunder of the captains, and the shouting.
His bones are like tubes of brass. His limbs are like bars of iron.
The flakes of his flesh are joined together. They are firm on him. They can't be moved. His heart is as firm as a stone, Yes, firm as the lower millstone. When he raises himself up, the mighty are afraid. They retreat before his thrashing. If one lay at him with the sword, it can't avail; Nor the spear, the dart, nor the pointed shaft. He counts iron as straw; And brass as rotten wood. The arrow can't make him flee. Sling stones are like chaff to him. Clubs are counted as stubble. He laughs at the rushing of the javelin. His undersides are like sharp potsherds, Leaving a trail in the mud like a threshing sledge.
For all the armor of the armed man in the tumult, and the garments rolled in blood, shall be for burning, for fuel of fire.
Like the noise of chariots on the tops of the mountains do they leap, Like the noise of a flame of fire that devours the stubble, As a strong people set in battle array. At their presence the peoples are in anguish. All faces have grown pale. They run like mighty men. They climb the wall like warriors. They each march in his line, and they don't swerve off course. Neither does one jostle another; They march everyone in his path, And they burst through the defenses, And don't break ranks.
The chariots rage in the streets. They rush back and forth in the broad ways. Their appearance is like torches. They run like the lightnings. He summons his picked troops. They stumble on their way. They dash to its wall, and the protective shield is put in place.
