Those planted in the house of Jehovah, In the courts of our God do flourish. Still they bring forth in old age, Fat and flourishing are they,
and this I pray, that your love yet more and more may abound in full knowledge, and all judgment, for your proving the things that differ, that ye may be pure and offenceless -- to a day of Christ, being filled with the fruit of righteousness, that `is' through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

This parable is intended to enforce that word of warning immediately going before, "Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish; except you be reformed, you will be ruined, as the barren tree, except it bring forth fruit, will be cut down.'
