20 Whoso is walking with wise men is wise, And a companion of fools suffereth evil.
Be not led astray; evil communications corrupt good manners; awake up, as is right, and sin not; for certain have an ignorance of God; for shame to you I say `it'.
Become not yoked with others -- unbelievers, for what partaking `is there' to righteousness and lawlessness? and what fellowship to light with darkness? and what concord to Christ with Belial? or what part to a believer with an unbeliever? and what agreement to the sanctuary of God with idols? for ye are a sanctuary of the living God, according as God said -- `I will dwell in them, and will walk among `them', and I will be their God, and they shall be My people, wherefore, come ye forth out of the midst of them, and be separated, saith the Lord, and an unclean thing do not touch, and I -- I will receive you, and I will be to you for a Father, and ye -- ye shall be to Me for sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.'
If they say, `Come with us, we lay wait for blood, We watch secretly for the innocent without cause, We swallow them as Sheol -- alive, And whole -- as those going down `to' the pit, Every precious substance we find, We fill our houses `with' spoil, Thy lot thou dost cast among us, One purse is -- to all of us.' My son! go not in the way with them, Withhold thy foot from their path, For their feet to evil do run, And they haste to shed blood. Surely in vain is the net spread out before the eyes of any bird. And they for their own blood lay wait, They watch secretly for their own lives. So `are' the paths of every gainer of dishonest gain, The life of its owners it taketh.
Abram hath dwelt in the land of Canaan, and Lot hath dwelt in the cities of the circuit, and tenteth unto Sodom; and the men of Sodom `are' evil, and sinners before Jehovah exceedingly.
To deliver thee from an evil way, From any speaking froward things, Who are forsaking paths of uprightness, To walk in ways of darkness, Who are rejoicing to do evil, They delight in frowardness of the wicked, Whose paths `are' crooked, Yea, they are perverted in their ways. To deliver thee from the strange woman, From the stranger who hath made smooth her sayings, Who is forsaking the guide of her youth, And the covenant of her God hath forgotten. For her house hath inclined unto death, And unto Rephaim her paths. None going in unto her turn back, Nor do they reach the paths of life. That thou dost go in the way of the good, And the paths of the righteous dost keep.
