1 My son, if thou dost accept my sayings, And my commands dost lay up with thee,
My son! keep my sayings, And my commands lay up with thee.
My son! my law forget not, And my commands let thy heart keep,
and if any one may hear my sayings, and not believe, I -- I do not judge him, for I came not that I might judge the world, but that I might save the world. `He who is rejecting me, and not receiving my sayings, hath one who is judging him, the word that I spake, that will judge him in the last day,
and these words which I am commanding thee to-day have been on thine heart, and thou hast repeated them to thy sons, and spoken of them in thy sitting in thine house, and in thy walking in the way, and in thy lying down, and in thy rising up, and hast bound them for a sign upon thy hand, and they have been for frontlets between thine eyes, and thou hast written them on door-posts of thy house, and on thy gates.
`Beth.' With what doth a young man purify his path? To observe -- according to Thy word. With all my heart I have sought Thee, Let me not err from Thy commands. In my heart I have hid Thy saying, That I sin not before Thee.
For receiving the instruction of wisdom, Righteousness, judgment, and uprightness,
My son, to my words give attention, To my sayings incline thine ear, Let them not turn aside from thine eyes, Preserve them in the midst of thy heart. For life they `are' to those finding them, And to all their flesh healing.
Bind them on thy heart continually, Tie them on thy neck.

So that in this chapter we are taught both how to get wisdom and how to use it when we have it, that we may neither seek it, nor receive it in vain.
Pro 2:1-9
Job had asked, long before this, Where shall wisdom be found? Whence cometh wisdom? (Job 28:12, 20) and he had given this general answer (v. 23), God knoweth the place of it; but Solomon here goes further, and tells us both where we may find it and how we may get it. We are here told,
