24 Proud, haughty, scorner `is' his name, Who is working in the wrath of pride.
O the happiness of that one, who Hath not walked in the counsel of the wicked. And in the way of sinners hath not stood, And in the seat of scorners hath not sat;
`Till when, ye simple, do ye love simplicity? And have scorners their scorning desired? And do fools hate knowledge?
And Haman seeth that Mordecai is not bowing and doing obeisance to him, and Haman is full of fury, and it is contemptible in his eyes to put forth a hand on Mordecai by himself, for they have declared to him the people of Mordecai, and Haman seeketh to destroy all the Jews who `are' in all the kingdom of Ahasuerus -- the people of Mordecai.
Eyes high -- tongues false -- And hands shedding innocent blood --
Before destruction `is' pride, And before stumbling -- a haughty spirit.'
Judgments have been prepared for scorners, And stripes for the back of fools!
Better `is' the latter end of a thing than its beginning, Better `is' the patient of spirit, than the haughty of spirit. Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry, For anger in the bosom of fools resteth.
We have heard of the arrogance of Moab, Exceeding proud! His haughtiness, and his arrogance, And his pride, and the height of his heart,
