7 In a pillar of cloud He speaketh unto them, They have kept His testimonies, And the statute He hath given to them.
And it hath come to pass, at the going in of Moses to the tent, the pillar of the cloud cometh down, and hath stood at the opening of the tent, and He hath spoken with Moses;
And Jehovah cometh down in the pillar of the cloud, and standeth at the opening of the tent, and calleth Aaron and Miriam, and they come out both of them.
And Moses doth according to all that Jehovah hath commanded him; so he hath done.
And it is very displeasing to Moses, and he saith unto Jehovah, `Turn not Thou unto their present; not one ass from them have I taken, nor have I afflicted one of them.'
Who is saying of his father and his mother, I have not seen him; And his brethren he hath not discerned, And his sons he hath not known; For they have observed Thy saying, And Thy covenant they keep.
`Lo, here `am' I; testify against me, over-against Jehovah, and over-against His anointed; whose ox have I taken, and whose ass have I taken, and whom have I oppressed; whom have I bruised, and of whose hand have I taken a ransom, and hide mine eyes with it? -- and I restore to you.' And they say, `Thou hast not oppressed us, nor hast thou crushed us, nor hast thou taken from the hand of any one anything.' And he saith unto them, `A witness `is' Jehovah against you: and a witness `is' His anointed this day, that ye have not found anything in my hand;' and they say, `A witness.'
Whoso is turning his ear from hearing the law, Even his prayer `is' an abomination.
being stedfast to Him who did appoint him, as also Moses in all his house,

PSALM 99
Ps 99:1-9. God's government is especially exercised in and for His Church, which should praise Him for His gracious dealings.
1. sitteth … cherubim—(compare 1Sa 4:4; Ps 80:1).
tremble … be moved—inspired with fear by His judgments on the wicked.
2. great in Zion—where He dwells (Ps 9:11).
3. thy … name—perfections of justice, power, &c.
great and terrible name—producing dread (De 10:17), and to be praised by those over whom He is exalted (Ps 97:9).
it is holy—or, "He is holy" (Ps 99:5, 9; Isa 6:3).
4, 5. To His wise and righteous government all nations should render honor.
king's … judgment—His power is combined with justice.
he is holy—(compare Ps 22:3).
6-8. The experience of these servants of God is cited for encouragement.
among … priests, among … upon the Lord [and] He spake … pillar—may be referred to all three (compare Ex 18:19; Le 8:15; De 5:5; 1Sa 9:13).
7. cloudy pillar—the medium of divine intercourse (Ex 33:9; Nu 12:5). Obedience was united with worship. God answered them as intercessors for the people, who, though forgiven, were yet chastened (Ex 32:10, 34).
