22 for I delight in the law of God according to the inward man,
But -- in the law of Jehovah `is' his delight, And in His law he doth meditate by day and by night:
that He may give to you, according to the riches of His glory, with might to be strengthened through His Spirit, in regard to the inner man,
To do Thy pleasure, my God, I have delighted, And Thy law `is' within my heart.
but -- the hidden man of the heart, in the incorruptible thing of the meek and quiet spirit, which is, before God, of great price,
Cause me to tread in the path of Thy commands, For in it I have delighted.
because this `is' the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel, after those days, saith the Lord, giving My laws into their mind, and upon their hearts I will write them, and I will be to them for a God, and they shall be to Me for a people;
Hearken unto Me, ye who know righteousness, A people, in whose heart `is' My law, Fear ye not the reproach of men, And for their reviling be not affrighted,
The precepts of Jehovah `are' upright, Rejoicing the heart, The command of Jehovah `is' pure, enlightening the eyes, The fear of Jehovah `is' clean, standing to the age, The judgments of Jehovah `are' true, They have been righteous -- together. They are more desirable than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; and sweeter than honey, Even liquid honey of the comb.
Lie not one to another, having put off the old man with his practices,
In Thy statutes I delight myself, I do not forget Thy word.
Jesus saith to them, `My food is, that I may do the will of Him who sent me, and may finish His work;
I have longed for Thy salvation, O Jehovah, And Thy law `is' my delight.
Therefore I have loved Thy commands Above gold -- even fine gold.
`Samech.' Doubting ones I have hated, And Thy law I have loved.
`Mem.' O how I have loved Thy law! All the day it `is' my meditation. Than mine enemies Thy command maketh me wiser, For it `is' before me to the age. Above all my teachers I have acted wisely. For Thy testimonies `are' my meditation. Above elders I understand more, For Thy precepts I have kept. From every evil path I restrained my feet, So that I keep Thy word. From Thy judgments I turned not aside, For Thou -- Thou hast directed me. How sweet to my palate hath been Thy saying, Above honey to my mouth. From Thy precepts I have understanding, Therefore I have hated every false path!
Unless Thy law `were' my delights, Then had I perished in mine affliction.

Commentary on Romans 7 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 7
We may observe in this chapter,
Rom 7:1-6
Among other arguments used in the foregoing chapter to persuade us against sin, and to holiness, this was one (v. 14), that we are not under the law; and this argument is here further insisted upon and explained (v. 6): We are delivered from the law. What is meant by this? And how is it an argument why sin should not reign over us, and why we should walk in newness of life?
Rom 7:7-14
To what he had said in the former paragraph, the apostle here raises an objection, which he answers very fully: What shall we say then? Is the law sin? When he had been speaking of the dominion of sin, he had said so much of the influence of the law as a covenant upon that dominion that it might easily be misinterpreted as a reflection upon the law, to prevent which he shows from his own experience the great excellency and usefulness of the law, not as a covenant, but as a guide; and further discovers how sin took occasion by the commandment. Observe in particular,
Rom 7:14-25
Here is a description of the conflict between grace and corruption in the heart, between the law of God and the law of sin. And it is applicable two ways:-
