2 Chronicles 6:18 Bible in Basic English (BBE)

18 But is it truly possible that God may be housed with men on earth? see, heaven and the heaven of heavens are not wide enough to be your resting-place: how much less this house which I have made:

Cross Reference

Psalms 113:5-6 BBE

Who is like the Lord our God, who is seated on high, Looking down on the heavens, and on the earth?

Acts 7:48-49 BBE

But still, the Most High has not his resting-place in houses made with hands, as the prophet says, Heaven is the seat of my power, and earth is a resting-place for my feet: what sort of house will you make for me, says the Lord, or what is my place of rest?

Exodus 29:45-46 BBE

Among the children of Israel I will make my living-place, and I will be their God. And they will see that I am the Lord their God, who took them out of the land of Egypt, so that I might be ever with them: I am the Lord their God.

Psalms 139:7-10 BBE

Where may I go from your spirit? how may I go in flight from you? If I go up to heaven, you are there: or if I make my bed in the underworld, you are there. If I take the wings of the morning, and go to the farthest parts of the sea; Even there will I be guided by your hand, and your right hand will keep me.

Job 25:4-6 BBE

How then is it possible for man to be upright before God? or how may he be clean who is a son of woman? See, even the moon is not bright, and the stars are not clean in his eyes: How much less man who is an insect, and the son of man who is a worm!

Introduction

INTRODUCTION TO 2 CHRONICLES 5 & 6

The words with which chapter five begins are the same with 1 Kings 7:51 and what is contained in that and chapter six is much the same with 1 Kings 8:1 on which see the notes; the blessing of Solomon on the people of Israel, which is there, is here omitted, and two verses are here added, much the same with Psalm 132:8.
