8 Then the king H4428 of Syria H758 warred H3898 against Israel, H3478 and took counsel H3289 with his servants, H5650 saying, H559 In such H6423 and such H492 a place H4725 shall be my camp. H8466
And Benhadad H1130 the king H4428 of Syria H758 gathered H6908 all his host H2428 together: H6908 and there were thirty H7970 and two H8147 kings H4428 with him, and horses, H5483 and chariots: H7393 and he went up H5927 and besieged H6696 Samaria, H8111 and warred H3898 against it.
And the servants H5650 of the king H4428 of Syria H758 said H559 unto him, Their gods H430 are gods H430 of the hills; H2022 therefore they were stronger H2388 than we; but H199 let us fight H3898 against them in the plain, H4334 and surely H3808 we shall be stronger H2388 than they.
And Benhadad said H559 unto him, The cities, H5892 which my father H1 took H3947 from thy father, H1 I will restore; H7725 and thou shalt make H7760 streets H2351 for thee in Damascus, H1834 as my father H1 made H7760 in Samaria. H8111 Then said Ahab, I will send thee away H7971 with this covenant. H1285 So he made H3772 a covenant H1285 with him, and sent him away. H7971
But the king H4428 of Syria H758 commanded H6680 his thirty H7970 and two H8147 captains H8269 that had rule over his chariots, H7393 saying, H559 Fight H3898 neither with small H6996 nor great, H1419 save only with the king H4428 of Israel. H3478
And it came to pass after this, H310 that Benhadad H1130 king H4428 of Syria H758 gathered H6908 all his host, H4264 and went up, H5927 and besieged H6696 Samaria. H8111
Every purpose H4284 is established H3559 by counsel: H6098 and with good advice H8458 make H6213 war. H4421
There is no wisdom H2451 nor understanding H8394 nor counsel H6098 against the LORD. H3068
Because Syria, H758 Ephraim, H669 and the son H1121 of Remaliah, H7425 have taken evil H7451 counsel H3289 against thee, saying, H559 Let us go up H5927 against Judah, H3063 and vex H6973 it, and let us make a breach H1234 therein for us, and set H4427 a king H4428 in the midst H8432 of it, even the son H1121 of Tabeal: H2870 Thus H3541 saith H559 the Lord H136 GOD, H3069 It shall not stand, H6965 neither shall it come to pass.

Commentary on 2 Kings 6 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 6
In this chapter we have,
The relief of it is another of the wonders wrought by Elisha's word, which we shall have the story of in the next chapter. Elisha is still a great blessing both to church and state, both to the sons of the prophets and to his prince.
2Ki 6:1-7
Several things may be observed here,
2Ki 6:8-12
Here we have Elisha, with his spirit of prophecy, serving the king, as before helping the sons of the prophets; for that, as other gifts, is given to every man to profit withal; and, whatever abilities any man has of doing good, he is by them made a debtor both to the wise and unwise. Observe here,
2Ki 6:13-23
Here is,
2Ki 6:24-33
This last paragraph of this chapter should, of right, have been the first of the next chapter, for it begins a new story, which is there continued and concluded. Here is,
