5 In the day H3117 of our king H4428 the princes H8269 have made him sick H2470 with bottles H2534 of wine; H3196 he stretched out H4900 his hand H3027 with scorners. H3945
But they H428 also have erred H7686 through wine, H3196 and through strong drink H7941 are out of the way; H8582 the priest H3548 and the prophet H5030 have erred H7686 through strong drink, H7941 they are swallowed up H1104 of H4480 wine, H3196 they are out of the way H8582 through strong drink; H7941 they err H7686 in vision, H7203 they stumble H6328 in judgment. H6417 For all tables H7979 are full H4390 of vomit H6892 and filthiness, H6675 so that there is no place H4725 clean.
For G1063 the time G5550 past G3928 of our life G979 may suffice G713 us G2254 to have wrought G2716 the will G2307 of the Gentiles, G1484 when we walked G4198 in G1722 lasciviousness, G766 lusts, G1939 excess of wine, G3632 revellings, G2970 banquetings, G4224 and G2532 abominable G111 idolatries: G1495 Wherein G1722 G3739 they think it strange G3579 that ye G5216 run G4936 not G3361 with them to G1519 the same G846 excess G401 of riot, G810 speaking evil of G987 you:
Woe H1945 unto him that giveth his neighbour H7453 drink, H8248 that puttest H5596 thy bottle H2573 to him, and makest him drunken H7937 also, that thou mayest look H5027 on their nakedness! H4589 Thou art filled H7646 with shame H7036 for glory: H3519 drink H8354 thou also, and let thy foreskin be uncovered: H6188 the cup H3563 of the LORD'S H3068 right hand H3225 shall be turned H5437 unto thee, and shameful spewing H7022 shall be on thy glory. H3519
Belshazzar H1113 the king H4430 made H5648 a great H7229 feast H3900 to a thousand H506 of his lords, H7261 and drank H8355 wine H2562 before H6903 the thousand. H506 Belshazzar, H1113 whiles he tasted H2942 the wine, H2562 commanded H560 to bring H858 the golden H1722 and silver H3702 vessels H3984 which his father H2 Nebuchadnezzar H5020 had taken H5312 out of H4481 the temple H1965 which was in Jerusalem; H3390 that the king, H4430 and his princes, H7261 his wives, H7695 and his concubines, H3904 might drink H8355 therein. Then H116 they brought H858 the golden H1722 vessels H3984 that were taken H5312 out of H4481 the temple H1965 of the house H1005 of God H426 which was at Jerusalem; H3390 and the king, H4430 and his princes, H7261 his wives, H7695 and his concubines, H3904 drank H8355 in them. They drank H8355 wine, H2562 and praised H7624 the gods H426 of gold, H1722 and of silver, H3702 of brass, H5174 of iron, H6523 of wood, H636 and of stone. H69
Woe H1945 unto them that are mighty H1368 to drink H8354 wine, H3196 and men H582 of strength H2428 to mingle H4537 strong drink: H7941 Which justify H6663 the wicked H7563 for H6118 reward, H7810 and take away H5493 the righteousness H6666 of the righteous H6662 from him!
Woe H1945 unto them that rise up early H7925 in the morning, H1242 that they may follow H7291 strong drink; H7941 that continue H309 until night, H5399 till wine H3196 inflame H1814 them! And the harp, H3658 and the viol, H5035 the tabret, H8596 and pipe, H2485 and wine, H3196 are in their feasts: H4960 but they regard H5027 not the work H6467 of the LORD, H3068 neither consider H7200 the operation H4639 of his hands. H3027
Who hath woe? H188 who hath sorrow? H17 who hath contentions? H4079 H4066 who hath babbling? H7879 who hath wounds H6482 without cause? H2600 who hath redness H2448 of eyes? H5869 They that tarry long H309 at the wine; H3196 they that go H935 to seek H2713 mixed wine. H4469 Look H7200 not thou upon the wine H3196 when it is red, H119 when it giveth H5414 his colour H5869 in the cup, H3563 H3599 when it moveth H1980 itself aright. H4339 At the last H319 it biteth H5391 like a serpent, H5175 and stingeth H6567 like an adder. H6848 Thine eyes H5869 shall behold H7200 strange women, H2114 and thine heart H3820 shall utter H1696 perverse things. H8419 Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth down H7901 in the midst H3820 of the sea, H3220 or as he that lieth H7901 upon the top H7218 of a mast. H2260 They have stricken H5221 me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick; H2470 they have beaten H1986 me, and I felt H3045 it not: when shall I awake? H6974 I will seek H1245 it yet H3254 again.

Commentary on Hosea 7 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 7
In this chapter we have,
Hsa 7:1-7
Some take away the last words of the foregoing chapter, and make them the beginning of this: "When I returned, or would have returned, the captivity of my people, when I was about to come towards them in ways of mercy, even when I would have healed Israel, then the iniquity of Ephraim (the country and common people) was discovered, and the wickedness of Samaria, the court and the chief city.' Now, in these verses, we may observe,
Hsa 7:8-16
Having seen how vicious and corrupt the court was, we now come to enquire how it is with the country, and we find that to be no better; and no marvel if the distemper that has so seized the head affect the whole body, so that there is no soundness in it; the iniquity of Ephraim is discovered, as well as the sin of Samaria, of the people as well as the princes, of which here are divers instances.
