21 Take heed, H8104 regard H6437 not iniquity: H205 for this hast thou chosen H977 rather than affliction. H6040
If I regard H7200 iniquity H205 in my heart, H3820 the Lord H136 will not hear H8085 me:
What man H1397 is like Job, H347 who drinketh up H8354 scorning H3933 like water? H4325 Which goeth H732 in company H2274 with the workers H6466 of iniquity, H205 and walketh H3212 with wicked H7562 men. H582 For he hath said, H559 It profiteth H5532 a man H1397 nothing that he should delight H7521 himself with God. H430
For thou saidst, H559 What advantage H5532 will it be unto thee? and, What profit H3276 shall I have, if I be cleansed from my sin? H2403
Therefore speak H1696 unto them, and say H559 unto them, Thus saith H559 the Lord H136 GOD; H3069 Every man H376 of the house H1004 of Israel H3478 that setteth up H5927 his idols H1544 in his heart, H3820 and putteth H7760 the stumblingblock H4383 of his iniquity H5771 before H5227 his face, H6440 and cometh H935 to the prophet; H5030 I the LORD H3068 will answer H6030 him that cometh H935 according to the multitude H7230 of his idols; H1544
Shadrach, H7715 Meshach, H4336 and Abednego, H5665 answered H6032 and said H560 to the king, H4430 O Nebuchadnezzar, H5020 we H586 are not H3809 careful H2818 to answer H8421 thee in H5922 this H1836 matter. H6600 If H2006 it be so, our God H426 whom we H586 serve H6399 is H383 able H3202 to deliver H7804 us from H4481 the burning H3345 fiery H5135 furnace, H861 and H4481 he will deliver H7804 us out of H4481 thine hand, H3028 O king. H4430 But if H2006 not, H3809 be it H1934 known H3046 unto thee, O king, H4430 that we will H383 not H3809 serve H6399 thy gods, H426 nor H3809 worship H5457 the golden H1722 image H6755 which thou hast set up. H6966
Now when Daniel H1841 knew H3046 that the writing H3792 was signed, H7560 he went H5954 into his house; H1005 and his windows H3551 being open H6606 in his chamber H5952 toward H5049 Jerusalem, H3390 he kneeled H1289 upon H5922 his knees H1291 three H8532 times H2166 a day, H3118 and prayed, H6739 and gave thanks H3029 before H6925 his God, H426 as H6903 H3606 he did H1934 H5648 aforetime. H4481 H1836 H6928
And G1161 if G1487 thy G4675 right G1188 eye G3788 offend G4624 thee, G4571 pluck G1807 it G846 out, G1807 and G2532 cast G906 it from G575 thee: G4675 for G1063 it is profitable G4851 for thee G4671 that G2443 one G1520 of thy G4675 members G3196 should perish, G622 and G2532 not G3361 that thy G4675 whole G3650 body G4983 should be cast G906 into G1519 hell. G1067 And G2532 if G1487 thy G4675 right G1188 hand G5495 offend G4624 thee, G4571 cut G1581 it G846 off, G1581 and G2532 cast G906 it from G575 thee: G4675 for G1063 it is profitable G4851 for thee G4671 that G2443 one G1520 of thy G4675 members G3196 should perish, G622 and G2532 not G3361 that thy G4675 whole G3650 body G4983 should be cast G906 into G1519 hell. G1067
Yet G1161 hath he G2192 not G3756 root G4491 in G1722 himself, G1438 but G235 dureth G2076 for a while: G4340 for G1161 when tribulation G2347 or G2228 persecution G1375 ariseth G1096 because G1223 of the word, G3056 by and by G2117 he is offended. G4624
Then G5119 said G2036 Jesus G2424 unto his G846 disciples, G3101 If any G1536 man will G2309 come G2064 after G3694 me, G3450 let him deny G533 himself, G1438 and G2532 take up G142 his G846 cross, G4716 and G2532 follow G190 me. G3427
And G1161 to him G846 they agreed: G3982 and G2532 when they had called G4341 the apostles, G652 and beaten G1194 them, they commanded G3853 that they should G2980 not G3361 speak G2980 in G1909 the name G3686 of Jesus, G2424 and G2532 let G630 them G846 go. G630 And G3767 they departed G4198 G3303 from G575 the presence G4383 of the council, G4892 rejoicing G5463 that G3754 they were counted worthy G2661 to suffer shame G818 for G5228 his G846 name. G3686
But G1063 let G3958 none G3361 G5100 of you G5216 suffer G3958 as G5613 a murderer, G5406 or G2228 as a thief, G2812 or G2228 as an evildoer, G2555 or G2228 as G5613 a busybody in other men's matters. G244 Yet G1161 if G1487 any man suffer as G5613 a Christian, G5546 let him G153 not G3361 be ashamed; G153 but G1161 let him glorify G1392 God G2316 on G1722 this G5129 behalf. G3313

Commentary on Job 36 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 36
Elihu, having largely reproved Job for some of his unadvised speeches, which Job had nothing to say in the vindication of, here comes more generally to set him to rights in his notions of God's dealings with him. His other friends had stood to it that, because he was a wicked man, therefore his afflictions were so great and so long. But Elihu only maintained that the affliction was sent for his trial, and that therefore it was lengthened out because Job was not, as yet, thoroughly humbled under it, nor had duly accommodated himself to it. He urges many reasons, taken from the wisdom and righteousness of God, his care of his people, and especially his greatness and almighty power, with which, in this and the following chapter, he persuades him to submit to the hand of God. Here we have,
This he prosecutes and enlarges upon in the following chapter.
Job 36:1-4
Once more Elihu begs the patience of the auditory, and Job's particularly, for he has not said all that he has to say, but he will not detain them long. Stand about me a little (so some read it), v. 2. "Let me have your attendance, your attention, awhile longer, and I will speak but this once, as plainly and as much to the purpose as I can.' To gain this he pleads,
Job 36:5-14
Elihu, being to speak on God's behalf, and particularly to ascribe righteousness to his Maker, here shows that the disposals of divine Providence are all, not only according to the eternal counsels of his will, but according to the eternal rules of equity. God acts as a righteous governor, for,
Job 36:15-23
Elihu here comes more closely to Job; and,
Job 36:24-33
Elihu is here endeavouring to possess Job with great and high thoughts of God, and so to persuade him into a cheerful submission to his providence.
