1 The burden H4853 of Nineveh. H5210 The book H5612 of the vision H2377 of Nahum H5151 the Elkoshite. H512
And he will stretch out H5186 his hand H3027 against the north, H6828 and destroy H6 Assyria; H804 and will make H7760 Nineveh H5210 a desolation, H8077 and dry H6723 like a wilderness. H4057
Arise, H6965 go H3212 to Nineveh, H5210 that great H1419 city, H5892 and cry H7121 against it; for their wickedness H7451 is come up H5927 before H6440 me.
The burden H4853 of Tyre. H6865 Howl, H3213 ye ships H591 of Tarshish; H8659 for it is laid waste, H7703 so that there is no house, H1004 no entering in: H935 from the land H776 of Chittim H3794 it is revealed H1540 to them.
And when this people, H5971 or the prophet, H5030 or a priest, H3548 shall ask H7592 thee, saying, H559 What is the burden H4853 of the LORD? H3068 thou shalt then say H559 unto them, What burden? H4853 I will even forsake H5203 you, saith H5002 the LORD. H3068 And as for the prophet, H5030 and the priest, H3548 and the people, H5971 that shall say, H559 The burden H4853 of the LORD, H3068 I will even punish H6485 that man H376 and his house. H1004 Thus shall ye say H559 every one H376 to his neighbour, H7453 and every one H376 to his brother, H251 What hath the LORD H3068 answered? H6030 and, What hath the LORD H3068 spoken? H1696 And the burden H4853 of the LORD H3068 shall ye mention H2142 no more: for every man's H376 word H1697 shall be his burden; H4853 for ye have perverted H2015 the words H1697 of the living H2416 God, H430 of the LORD H3068 of hosts H6635 our God. H430 Thus shalt thou say H559 to the prophet, H5030 What hath the LORD H3068 answered H6030 thee? and, What hath the LORD H3068 spoken? H1696
So Jonah H3124 arose, H6965 and went H3212 unto Nineveh, H5210 according to the word H1697 of the LORD. H3068 Now Nineveh H5210 was an exceeding H430 great H1419 city H5892 of three H7969 days' H3117 journey. H4109 And Jonah H3124 began H2490 to enter H935 into the city H5892 a H259 day's H3117 journey, H4109 and he cried, H7121 and said, H559 Yet forty H705 days, H3117 and Nineveh H5210 shall be overthrown. H2015
The burden H4853 of Egypt. H4714 Behold, the LORD H3068 rideth H7392 upon a swift H7031 cloud, H5645 and shall come H935 into Egypt: H4714 and the idols H457 of Egypt H4714 shall be moved H5128 at his presence, H6440 and the heart H3824 of Egypt H4714 shall melt H4549 in the midst H7130 of it.

Commentary on Nahum 1 Matthew Henry Commentary
An Exposition, With Practical Observations, of
The Prophecy of Nahum
Chapter 1
In this chapter we have,
Nah 1:1
This title directs us to consider,
Nah 1:2-8
Nineveh knows not God, that God that contends with her, and therefore is here told what a God he is; and it is good for us all to mix faith with that which is here said concerning him, which speaks a great deal of terror to the wicked and comfort to good people; for this glorious description of the Sovereign of the world, like the pillar of cloud and fire, has a bright side towards Israel and a dark side towards the Egyptians. Let each take his portion from it; let sinners read it and tremble; let saints read it and triumph. The wrath of God is here revealed from heaven against his enemies, his favour and mercy are here assured to his faithful loyal subjects, and his almighty power in both, making his wrath very terrible and his favour very desirable.
Nah 1:9-15
These verses seem to point at the destruction of the army of the Assyrians under Sennacherib, which may well be reckoned a part of the burden of Nineveh, the head city of the Assyrian empire, and a pledge of the destruction of Nineveh itself about 100 years after; and this was an event which Isaiah, with whom probably this prophet was contemporary, spoke much of. Now observe here,
