13 In God we do mightily, And He doth tread down our adversaries!
In God we do mightily, And He treadeth down our adversaries!
-- `A wine-press I have trodden by myself, And of the peoples there is no one with me, And I tread them in mine anger, And I trample them in my fury, Sprinkled is their strength on my garments, And all my clothing I have polluted.
`O our God, dost Thou not execute judgment upon them? for there is no power in us before this great multitude that hath come against us, and we know not what we do, but on Thee `are' our eyes.'
For by Thee I run -- a troop! And by my God I leap a wall. God! perfect `is' His way, The saying of Jehovah is tried, A shield `is' He to all those trusting in Him. For who `is' God besides Jehovah? And who `is' a rock save our God? God! who is girding me `with' strength, And He maketh perfect my way. Making my feet like hinds, And on my high places causeth me to stand. Teaching my hands for battle, And a bow of brass was brought down by my arms.
Jehovah `is' for me, I do not fear what man doth to me. Jehovah `is' for me among my helpers, And I -- I look on those hating me. Better to take refuge in Jehovah than to trust in man, Better to take refuge in Jehovah, Than to trust in princes. All nations have compassed me about, In the name of Jehovah I surely cut them off. They have compassed me about, Yea, they have compassed me about, In the name of Jehovah I surely cut them off. They compassed me about as bees, They have been extinguished as a fire of thorns, In the name of Jehovah I surely cut them off. Thou hast sorely thrust me to fall, And Jehovah hath helped me.

and the God of the peace shall bruise the Adversary under your feet quickly; the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ `be' with you. Amen!
and by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace that `is' towards me came not in vain, but more abundantly than they all did I labour, yet not I, but the grace of God that `is' with me;

INTRODUCTION TO Psalm 108
A Song cf15I or Psalm of David. This psalm consists of several passages out of the fifty seventh and sixtieth psalms, with very little variation. Jarchi and Kimchi refer it to the times of the Messiah. The title in the Syriac version is,
"concerning the calling of the Gentiles,'
to which, no doubt, it has respect.
O God, my heart is fixed; I will sing and give praise,.... From hence to Psalm 108:6 the words are taken out of Psalm 57:7, which see.
Even with my glory; my tongue; in Psalm 57:8, it is read, "awake up my glory". See Gill on Psalm 57:7,
For thy mercy is great above the heavens,..... It is in Psalm 57:10, "thy mercy is great unto the heavens". See Gill on Psalm 57:10.
That thy beloved may be delivered,.... From hence to the end of the psalm the words are taken out of Psalm 60:5. See Gill on Psalm 60:5.
Over Philistia will I triumph,.... In Psalm 60:8, it is, "Philistia, triumph thou because of me"; See Gill on Psalm 60:8.
And wilt not thou, O God, go forth with our hosts?.... In Psalm 60:10, it is, "and thou, O God, which didst not go out with our armies". See Gill on Psalm 60:10.
